I have 4 days in Switzerland - please help

I have 4 days in Switzerland in Mid April. I will start in Zurich, and work my way to Geneva.

Please advise on what to do and where to stay.

Tks

WIM

1. Visit www.twenj.com - - tons of good information, and the creator(s) Ed (and Julie) are "regulars" here and you can correspond with him(them) directly.

2. If you think you would like to include the Lucerne area, strongly consider Hotel Albana in Weggis. Hotels in Lucerne can be expensive, and this is great value for a lower (though not cheap) price.

3. If you have a night to spend in the Geneva area, consider Chateau du Domainevieux in Satigny (10-15 minutes outside Geneva, requires a car), especially if you like (and can afford) outstanding Michelin-stratospheric cuisine. Like Lucerne, Geneva lodging is outrageously expensive; I am not suggesting that you should overnight there at all. But if logistics lead you to want to do so, this is a great place, at much cheaper (though not bargain-basement) lodging costs than IN Geneva. Close to the airport, too (10-15 minutes).

Best wishes,

Rex
Good morning, wims
Rex's idea of the Lucerne area and the
hotel WEGGIS is very good, it is only
a short boat trip back to Lucerne and
to Vitznau (Rigi), Titlis and Pilatus.Don't think the inclince railway
up Pilatus operates this early and you
will probably have to take the cable car
and gondolas from Kriens. Weggis also
has the casino which can be used for
a little of night life in Weggis.
Would also suggest that you spend two
days in the Berneroberland, staying at
Interlaken or Grindelwald. And then rail
to Geneva hru Gstadd and Montreax.
Richard of La Grange Park, Il..

I highly recommend Montreux, and the Hotel Eden au Lac there. I was there on business in 1999 for 6 days, and I found Montreux to be lovely. It's on Lake Geneva (Lac Leman) and the hotel, old and restored with big rooms and modern bathrooms is right on the quai, or pedestrian walkway, that snakes around the lake from one end of town to another. There is a statue of Freddy Mercury (of all people!) on the quai that at first, being from Memphis, I thought was Elvis. The climate is semitropical due to the topography, and so the weather is never too cold or too hot, I'm told. The castle of chillon was a fun visit, and I thought it was just a beautiful place to stay - 1 and 1/2 hours from Geneva by car.

I would recommend either Lucerne or Wengen. Lucerne is beautiful, but if you want the Alps and scenery that is unbelieveable, you need to go to Wengen. In Wengen I would suggest the Alpenrose Hotel. It is wonderful and reasonably priced. I am very envious of your trip -- I love Switzerland.

A prejudiced view, but with some sense, I think. I hated Wengen so much, I just had to leave. I went to Gstaad. Maybe it was the joy of escaping from a place I had taken an irrational dislike to, but I loved Gstaad. And it makes more sense on an itinerary - how about Zurich - Weggis - Gstaad - Geneva?
