I had the BEST time in Italy!!
 

Thanks to all of you of on Fodor's and all the good advice given to me here!! I had this fear of going by myself and when I got there, I couldn't understand why. I felt so at home and I could've stayed forever. I stayed at hotel San Carlo which was perfect. It was located only a two minute walk away from the Spanish Steps. The hotel was very nice and clean and the people working there were friendly and helpful. I had such a good time and I will never hesitate to go my by myself again. I miss Italy terribly!!!

Schnookies, the San Carlo is "my" hotel also! I came across them kind of by accident, while trying to make last-minute arrangements for a business trip to Rome, and I simply adore them, and apparently they, me. I am going to the Boston Fodor's GTG next month (even though I live in the Midwest), and have taken a handful of their business cards to distribute to anyone at the GTG who wants one.

So glad to hear you had a lovely time, but you must share details. I myself just returned the night before last, and hope to post my trip report sometime over the weekend.

Ah, I was at the San Carlo also on the 14th and 15th. I like that place also. Great staff. Did you see me in the lobby frantically calling Virgin Airlines to re-book my flight home after they cancelled it when I missed my connection in Heathrow? Thank goodness I always call to re-confirm the flight home.

I too am a San Carlo veteran! I stayed with them three times in total, with most recenty in May for the first time as a solo traveller. I felt safe with them and they have always been so warm to me, especially Rosanna. It's like staying with family, without the annoyances!

Schnookies congrats on going solo - I too am now hooked and cant wait to do it again.
