I can't find the train schedule from Naples to Sorrento

all links I find end up not being available, i.e. via the Circumvesuviana website. Should I just wait a few days and assume webmaintenance is going on? I'm trying to figure out logistics of Napoli - Ercolano - Sorrento, SITA bus to Positano.

This site was updated last January so I *assume* it's still accurate www.massalubrense.it/circum.htm

They may be doing site maintenance. Basically you catch the train from Naples and Ercolano is one of the many stops on the way to Sorrento(the end of the line). Cost is only a few Euro. The Sita bus you will catch outside the Sorrento train station and will be a few Euro.

There are schedules on the Circumvesuviana web site in PDF format. From Napoli Piazza Garibaldi (Napoli Centrale), the first trains to Sorrento are at 0511 (not Sundays) or 0541 (Sundays) and they are about every half hour till 2244. It is a commuter service and you do not need to lose any sleep over the schedules - so long as you don't miss that last train.

They run like a commuter line--about every :30. Just show up and read the schedule.

I still can't get it!! every link I click on turns up dead. So you really think I can just turn up on a Saturday and there will be regular trains Naples - Ercolano then Ercolano to Sorrento? Someone told me on this board I would have to go back into Naples in order to get to Sorrento. Is that true?

No you won't have to go back to Naples. Ercolano is one of the stops between Naples and Sorrento. The train line starts in Naples and makes a dozen stops before it gets to Sorrento. The timetable portion of the website isn't working for some reason but you can pull up the cost. Yes you can just show up and catch the train - it is just a commuter type train and runs often.
