I booked "Paris in Winter"
 

So earlier i had started a thread about whether to go to Paris in winter using my frequent flyer miles as Jan-Feb only required 30,000 miles round trip, most of the responses were positive, and this morning I went ahead and booked it. i could not get the dates I wanted in Jan (would have saved me two vacation days as we have off for MLK Jr day and the day after for the Governor's inauguration). but I was able to get a week in Feb. Taxes and fees were $151 and I purchased US Air's trip insurance for $26. Seats were great!!

I have several hotel possibilities picked out so that is the next step. So I hope all goes well. I got Invisilign braces on last night and am a little worried I will not be able to enjoy myself - these things are darned annoying especially the 'attachments' -don't hurt just annoying and very hard to get out which i have to do to eat. I'm a wuss and dont' know if I'll be able to handle this process.

Anyway thanks to all who gave their opinion and to Denisea for all your wonderful descriptions of your Christmas trips to Paris.

February is an excellent month to visit Paris because it is the month with the fewest tourists.

Congrats on getting you tickets. Have a great trip. You have months to get used to your braces. We've been to Paris many times in February and have had decent weather most of the trips. I can recall several Valentine Days or thereabouts with warm, sunny weather nice enough to sit outside. Just layer up & take hat, scarves, gloves and boots. Maybe you won't even need them.
Cant help with hotels as its been along time since we have stayed in one -- always stay in apts.

Just for the record, and of course it is no guarantee, February has been quite mild these past two years. Last winter it did not freeze a single time in Paris, and the winter before that was considered "severe" because it snowed about ten times in December, but by January and February had come along, the bite was totally gone from winter, and spring arrived early.

But I also remember times when it has snowed in Paris in March or April, so really anything is possible.

Congratulations! Since you know to expect winter weather there should be no surprises and so many indoor activities that weather won't matter.

Well done on using your miles! I love Paris in February simply because it eliminates the need for 'comfortable walking shoes' which is always a dilemma for me. In February, I can throw on boots and head out...never a sore foot or a blister! The additional advantage is the lighting...early morning, daytime, dusk, and nighttime all seem to have a completely different hue than other times of the year.

Fantastic! I hope you have a great time. I wore conventional braces for four years as an adult (got them off in 2011). You'll get used to them. I promise. The first couple of weeks are the worst.
