And, it's nice to meet you, readysetgo

travginny Apr 7th, 2005 12:27 PM

Welcome aboard, Rsetgo! For the past four years, I have planned all my trips with information gathered on this great site.

Don't worry about your writing skills...just tell us in your own words where you've been and what you've seen.

Ginny

How have I lost you, Ziana? Are you daft?

No, I am not Zza Zza Gabor. She was from some mediocre, vulgar Hungarian family. Plus, she was in "show business." And no one if my family would ever sell wigs to make a living. Tres tacky. :)

welove2travel Apr 7th, 2005 01:50 PM

RSG your courageous decision to come forward had encouraged me to do the same. I, too, have become hooked on Fodors!! We are planning our first trip to Europe -- we leave in only 14 days! This site has been invaluable.

And NZGIRL you posed the question before I could...just how do you inset those little icons????

welove2travel Apr 7th, 2005 01:53 PM

Uh oh...I fear the spelling police will arrest me. I meant has not had; and insert not inset.

ira Apr 7th, 2005 01:59 PM

>... how do you inset those little icons???<

To inseRt an icon, go to http://fodors.com/forums/smileys/

((^)) for ira

Marilyn Apr 7th, 2005 02:05 PM

In my experience, the spelling police vent on specific threads that are about the topics of spelling and grammar. I rarely read a thread where someone suddenly corrects another poster's spelling, unless it is a place name and the incorrect spelling might prevent effective research.

The one exception is that in the heat of an argument, people will attack any weakness they spot in their adversary.

readysetgo Apr 7th, 2005 02:12 PM

Oops! I might have made a boo-boo here, not too sure, still in the novice stages. However, I too was shy to ask about those smileys. Thanks Ira for the heads up. Also thanks again for your gracious welcome to Fodors. You even gave me a nickname "RSG". Does that mean you like me, you really really like me???

Message: Before I found Fodors, I had self-confidence issues, too.

Now, after posting regularly on Fodors, I have become an opinionated, self-aggrandizing bully.

I cannot thanks Fodors enough.>>

That is so funny. I go to another forum sometimes that is so full of goody-goody types it is sickening!!! This board at least has some spunk now and then. (In spite of a few self-appointed forum cops.)

Message: ThinGorjus - you're really Zsa Zsa Gabor, right? C'mon you can tell us....

Oh my, I hope you are happy, you made soda come out of my nose!

SuzieC, you are right. We are like one big happy dysfunctional family at Thanksgiving Dinner.

dsm22 Apr 7th, 2005 03:48 PM

OOpsy! Technical difficulties!
I hit post too soon. Must have been from all the laughing and having to clean up the soda.

I forgot:
Thank you ira for the smiley page link!

jazzyred Apr 7th, 2005 04:02 PM

Welcome readysetgo. Just a word of caution. My friends all get this very guarded look on their faces when I start talking about the latest news gleaned from Fodor's philanthropists. If people start to back away from you ...just kidding!

Thanks Ira for the icon hint. I found one there just meant for me. The real reason we are renting an apt in Paris this time is so we can actually move away from the cafe where I sat glued getting my coffee fix. We might actually visit Paris this time. LOL

tedgale Apr 7th, 2005 05:08 PM

Zsa Zsa Gabor from a mediocre, vulgar Hungarian family?

She may have been all that herself -- but wasn't one of her uncles Prime Minister of Hungary -- or something similar?

Robespierre Apr 7th, 2005 05:15 PM

Q: How can you tell the age of a Gabor sister?

A: By counting the RHings, dahling!

(I made that up.)

suze Apr 7th, 2005 07:00 PM

hey is it ira's birthday? is that what that icon is?

cigalechanta Apr 7th, 2005 07:20 PM

SHAME ON YOU! SHEILA. My spelling is not the pits. I hit the wrong keys due to my bad arthritis if you had taken the time to notice!

sheila Apr 7th, 2005 10:47 PM

:)

ira Apr 8th, 2005 04:13 AM

Hi RSG,

>You even gave me a nickname "RSG". Does that mean you like me, you really really like me??? <

Either that, or I've got a gun in my pocket.

((I))

Ziana Apr 8th, 2005 04:44 AM

RSG...nobody likes you...abbreviation simply made to write annoying names faster. (just kidding)

Curt Apr 8th, 2005 07:09 AM

I used to be a vivacious, outgoing, happy-go-lucky type of fellow, enjoying my treks through Europe. Then I started posting here, and after being slapped around, talked down to, called dumb, and told that I know nothing, I am now a very introverted loner.

But I still like this place!!!!!

Robespierre Apr 8th, 2005 07:19 AM

But Curt,

Everyone gets slapped around, talked down to, called dumb, and told that they know nothing.

When pushed, I push back.

Eloise Apr 8th, 2005 07:32 AM

Robespierre: Except when you push first...

janemc Apr 9th, 2005 11:12 AM

Psychologically, you are all in the "normal range". This is your group therapy support system. You have saved yourself thousands in therapy bills.

toni Apr 9th, 2005 01:50 PM

Ira, you're a champ. I've been wondering for ages how everyone does those darling little icons. Thanks for the information. ((l))

Samsaf Apr 9th, 2005 02:01 PM

I just got back (less than an hour ago) from a mini-trip to Florida, and here I am on the Fodor's board. Does that make me a Fodor-holic?

Clifton Apr 9th, 2005 02:07 PM

Welcome aboard reasysetgo. I did the same for a couple of years but think I've been heading in the opposite direction lately. It is definitely a place where you can pick up a lot of good tips though.
