i am looking for a low priced gym in central london

i am looking for a low priced gym in central london

the cheapest options ive found are

40 pounds/month at the waterloo campus of kings college in london
http://www.kclsu.org/services_k4.php
35 pounds/month at the straddler sports center at the city university in london
http://www.city.ac.uk/sportscentre/index.html

both prices are for members of the public and are close to metro and bus stops.

Have you checked the Central London Y? I don't remeber the figures now, but they offered a discount to foreign Y members. There's a place called the Oasis Sports Centre, too, which looked nice but didn't list their prices online; you'd have to contact them.

Good luck; I'll be watching this thread for answers more helpful than mine....

Those rates seem pretty reasonable to me - are you looking for something cheaper?

sandy456 Mar 10th, 2008 01:19 AM

yes perhaps other university gyms in central london?

i'm not sure you will do much better than that. even public leisure centres can cost much more than that. that's pretty cheap for a gym in this area. and if there are no initiation fees or long term contracts involved then it looks even better.

Westminster and Camden councils have several leisure centres. Centrally located ones are Seymour Place nr Bond St/Marylebone, Porchester Place nr Queensway and Oasis Centre. Though price-wise they are not much different than private gym chains like FitnessFirst or Virgin (used to be Holmes Place). You have an option of paying per visit if only using swimming pools, but otherwise it is monthly.

thanks but those gyms require a direct debit deposit. they also expect most customers to stay for more than a month. In my case, I'm just interested in paying cash for 1 month, and then walk away. Also, I don't want to pay any joining fee.

there is city university gym near barbican metro at 37pounds, unless there is a cheaper option..
