Hurtigruten - deck passage?
Has anyone ridden the Hurtigruten as a deck passage passenger?
|
What are you trying to find out?
|
I want to take the Hurtigruten from Aalesund to Trondheim but is ridiculously expensive for a cabin for two people(almost $600 for one night). Deck passage, without a cabin, is only $150 per person per night. Is it comfortable? Is it possible to sleep as a deck passage passenger? Those are my questions.

We had a cabin, but the ship we were on MS Finnmarken had wonderful lounge areas. However there are a few what they call "mid-generation" and "traditional" ships which might not be as comfy. Each ship has it's particular sailing date from Bergen or Kirkenes. Also if it's summertime there's not much darkness at night.

I am unable to find the fares. Where did you get them? ((*))

puttakka: I have been on Hurtigruten several times but with a cabin. From what I have seen people without cabins are allowed to make themselves comfortable overnight in the lounges on chairs or settees. They will be expected to rouse themselves when others are around.

Jed - I also went to the Norwegian site, www.hurtigruten.no, and selected the "English" option. Note - to get to the Norwegian version you must type in "www." Otherwise you'll go to the coastal voyages website.
