We had a great dinner, although they also serve lunch, at Ristorante Il Caminetto. It was not pricey, albeit it was three years ago.

Have you done a search for Florence restaurants? There are MANY threads here!

While in Florence, YOU MUST go to Buca Dell Orafo! Our absolute FAVORITE local restaurant! We haven't been there for about 6 years however we plan on going back next month. It is a stone's throw from the Ponte Vecchio and litterally a hole in the wall. They make a wonderful tuscan soup called Ribbolita...simple fare...not sure what you are in the mood for but it gave us great memmories of being in Italy.

I just googled it and it has apparently made some reviews...so it must have become more popular. Enjoy!

I second the comments on Buca above, if it's the place I'm thinking of. It's hard to find -- we walked past it 3x's before we saw it. If you're across the street from the Ponte Vecchio facing the heart of the city and with your back towards Palazzo Pitti, there is a little alleyway on your right and you'll see an awning for Buca -- you walk down some stairs to reach it.

I also liked a casual place for lunch called Yellow. I think I had something called stracchi. MMMMmmm.

There are a couple of places with an affordable lunch but they're only open during the week?

Have to dig up the name though.

I remember just walking around San Lorenzo. One narrow street had several restaurants with tables out onto the street and a few with grills.

I think I paid 9 Euro for a 2-course, with a thinly sliced grilled beef and some pasta. Was so good but the portions were small, although it was perfect for the beef as I didn't really want thick Florentine steak.

But there were workers maneuvering carts past the tables on that narrow street. Still reasonably peaceful.

The Leo on Via Scala is a very good choice for a price fixed 10 euro tourist menu. We ate their 3 times in January. We also had their pizza, very good.
