How's the weather in Italy now?

I thought that starting this thread might be useful for those of us traveling to Italy in the upcoming days or weeks. Feel free to comment on any region in Italy, I'm sure there's someone reading this that will be going there and will find it helpful : )

I'm in Florence right now. It has beenin the mid 60's today and cloudy. Rome has been about 70-75 for the past few days, partly cloudy with brief rain showers. I have an umbrella but didn't bring a coat of any kind. Just a sweater.

Southern Italy is stll warm and sunny, but the northern part of Italy has been having very cold weather and lots of rain. I have had continour rain in northern Tuscany during the week-end and in Milano yesterday we have had 11°C and rain both in the afternoon and in the morning. I am in the office, wearing a sweather, typing with cold hands and the heating turned on.

I am up in Northern Italy as well, near Pordenone and Udine, and there is snow on the top of the mountains I can see!! High today is about 60 degrees F, and rainy. I'm wearing a raincoat myself!
Ciao
Sia

Hi, I am here in Sorrento visiting Giancarlo. It is raining off and on, mostly on today, even though it started out sunny this morning. There is also a train strike today. Ciao.

Lucy,

Now that you are BACK with Giancarlo, would you rather the sun would shine on you two and your travels?? Or...do you not mind the rain, being from Southern California where we get so little?

Another trip report when you return???

Lucy Sep 25th, 2002 01:31 PM

Hi Roco, well, I would rather have the sunshine because Sorrento area is so beautiful with the sun which is natural to this region. But we had a wonderful dinner at Pepinos in Massa Lubrense last night and today we walked around the town of Sorrento. Tomorrow, who knows, but thanks for asking. Ciao and I will write again when I return to California.

Just got back 2 days ago from Italy.

Rome is extremely hot and humid during the day--skirts are highly recommended for women. Evening are cool, light jacket or sweater is definitely needed. It rained everyday we were there (not all day); we bought an umbrella there for 4 euros.

Venice was also humid, but the weather was beautiful...anything goes.

Naples was very hot, especially Pompeii.

Cinque Terre was perfect weather, probably 70 degrees or so, but also pretty chilly at night.

Sa:

your informations about ROme are to be updated a bit. Yesterday a friend told me that the temperature was below 20°C even at noon.
