My score was 34, but as others have noted there are some countries not listed in that survey.
|
I know what you mean Tower. Japan is my second home though I was more than 17 first time I went!
Has anyone got passport stamps for countries that don't exist any more? I have DDR, Yugoslavia and Gilbert and Ellice Islands!! I guess it's an age thing. :) |
Yes, Gertie, I have the former Yugoslavia stamp 1989. Flew on Yugoslav Air (shudder).
|
I got 48 if I include my next trip.
|
21, which will be 23 by June and 25 by the fall.
Like many others, I guess I do a lot of repeating since my next trip is my 20th to Europe. If I wasn't already fortunate enough to be in Europe, again, I'd celebrate that milestone - ;-) Next stop - 365 days spent in Europe. I wish I could make it 20 years, but that is not likley to happen anymore :-( |
There are several countries that are not on this survey?
|
49. Only 150 to go.
|
21, and no new ones added this year. Retirement can't come soon enough!
|
Only 10 for me. But I've lost count of the number of trips to France!
|
Gertie,
83! I am only at 25. I am hoping Korea and Spain will be possible this year. |
Considering the company I keep around here, I'm not well traveled.
15 for me although I've made several trips to a couple of countries. So it's like reading, some people read a lot of different books by various authors, some of us have favorite authors who are quite prolific. Does it count if one has only walked through an airport? I didn't count those, although I know someone who has been to every U.S. state. He counts them even if he's only been for an hour. IMO that's not well traveled. |
We are pushing 40 but have spent considerable time in Spain with numerous return visits to France, Italy, and the UK.
We are now trying to visit countries we have not visited once. Although we will return to Spain again within the next few years. After traveling independently for almost 45 years, we still like to travel with the idea that is better to see a few places well, than many poorly. |
I've only got 29 . . . but I feel more travelled than that, considering that I've lived in 7 of them (Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, USA, Korea, France, Canada, and Germany).

Like Swandav, only 29, but I've lived in U.S., Belgium, Germany, U.K, Liberia and Switzerland. DH has lived in Germany, U.S., Canada, Belgium, UK, Switzerland, Australia, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
|
I got 23, but like others, have been to Germany 4 times for longer periods but only really passed through Lesotho and Swaziland.
We are aiming for a month in northern Italy next year. When I was younger I would have darted all over Europe in that time frame, am glad I have learned to slow down. |
25 - but where is Tahiti? I've been there. New Caledonia? Been there too. The Loyalty Islands - been there. Lichenstein? Meh...anyway that list was fun.
|
strange idea that well traveled can be scored. I remember the old adage:
There are those who believe that people can be divided into two types and those who don't. Plus the old Einstein quote. |
bilbo - my thought as well. plus, some of those countries listed are not exactly stable at the moment. more is not always merrier.
uk is more than 1 country, but tiny states like monaco and lux get their own tab. the us, canada, australia are very large but likewise get one tab only. |
I count anyplace I have been on the ground - but have not had airport transfers except in countries I have already been in. Many of these countries ar multiples - since I used totravel to europe on business a lot - more than 100 trips so far. But since many were congresses or market research have been more than once - several many times to cities where they frequently occur: London (15 at least), Paris ) a dozen at least), Dublin, Rome, Madrid, Amsterdam, Copenhagen. Also had a client in Basel so have been there at least 25 times.
|
Only 20 to date. I've been aiming for variety and appealing to specific interests, so I like the diversity of my list (some pretty on beaten track destinations like the UK, Italy, France, but somewhat less traveled places like Syria, Tanzania, Ecuador and Oman).
I've never been interested in overly destabilized countries: there's always a risk anywhere we go, even just stepping outside, but I try to compound that risk as little as possible without being fearful. I leave for #21 in two weeks, visit #22 this summer, and have two fall trips planned covering #23 through #26. |
