How to spend last full day in Ireland?

This will be our third trip to Ireland: but, this time we're taking our two children and their spouses (all in their 20's). The first two days we're in Kenmare, then three days on the Dingle Peninsula and the last three in Lahinch. This will be more of an activity based vacation than our previous trips. We'll fly fish, hike, some will play golf and my son will surf. Our last full day in Lahinch what would be a good experience for the six of us? It will be a Saturday in early Sept. I've thought about the Aran Islands from Doolin or maybe doing a daytrip to Galway or a little north of there. Suggestions, please.

No suggestions!!! Would a trip to Galway and back be a full day? I would love to see a little of Connemara; but, is that just too much to do? Does anyone know of any great restaurants and pubs in Galway?

Based solely on what my guidebooks say and the driving time estimates given at viamichelin.com (realizing those estimates are much too low), you should be able to make a loop through the southern portion of Connemara without pushing yourselves too much. If the idea of a medieval banquet in a castle appeals to you, check out Dunguaire Castle at Kinvara.

It the weather is nice I can think of nothing finer than Loop Head Drive. If the weather is uncooperative go to Galway for the day.

Irish Eyes, We're considering doing the Loop Head drive en route from the Tarbert Ferry to Lahinch. How long should we allow to do this drive?

Once you arrive in Killimer probably 2-3 hours. It will depend on routing too. There are many little roads to meander on. If the weather is fine there are multiple stops to make for photos. There are also hikes, cliff walks & beachs at Kilkee, Bridges of Ross and the walk around the lighthouse at Loop Head. If you do all that and like to linger it could add lots more time.

Thanks for your reply. The Loop Head drive sounds like it will be just what we want to do on the way to Lahinch.
