how to pronounce Gimignano
Went to the charming town of San Gimignano, but can't recall how to pronounce it! Any help?
I'm pretty sure it's "jimi yan o" with the yan being drawn out.
try "jim in YAHN oh"
quick with the gn, but with emphasis there, and you'll then glide right to the end. Get that Yuh in there - gnoche anyone?
sahn gee-mee-nyan-oh (soft "g")
Good grief this was right next to another thread where this was over dissected to death already.

jee-mee-NYAH-no

Not jim, not in, not nyahn, not oh.

Consonant sounds are always the start of a syllable in Italian, not attached to the syllable before.
over - dissected to death - already. I see what you mean.
