You can train as far as Naples easy enough, but then you have some choices to make involving boats, local commuter trains, and private drivers. I would taxi to the port and take the ferry to Positano.

Hi M,

Any reason why you want to do both the CT and the AC on the same visit?

Do you know where/how I can find out if the ferries/jetfoils run from Naples to Positano during the last week in September? Do they run year-round?

Thanks,

Leslie

Train strikes are common in Italy regardless of whether or not it is Sunday. If you are backpacking then I'm going to make an assumption that you aren't cashed up enough to pay for a private driver from Naples - Positano. So the local train is your best bet. I could be wrong but I think you'll have to get off in Sorrento and then catch a bus to Positano. Other posters will be able to correct me if there is an easier way. The ferry would be nice too, but I haven't done that so can't advise.
