How to get to the airport from Venice?

Can someone tell me what is the easiest and cheapest way to get to Marco Polo airport from Dorsoduro in Venice?

Hi X,

Easiest is not always cheapest.

You can take the vaporetto to Piazzale Roma and a land bus.

You can take the Alilaguna water ferry to the airport.

The easiest way is by water taxi - about 85E.

You can take the ATVO blue bus from Piazzale Roma to the airport for 3 euro. This is what we have always done and it is cheap and easy. There is a ticket office across the parking lot and we usually buy the ticket a day or two in advance so we just have to get to the bus stop at departure time.

It's just a 20 bus ride on the ATVO bus and it drops you right in front of the terminal doors. Very easy and cheap. Either walk or take the vaporetto to Piazza Roma.

Easiest but not cheapest--take a water taxi. It is even more beautiful coming into Venice and a luxury that we treat ourselves to whenever we fly into Venice (but it will cost around $100).

FROM Dorsoduro to the airport:

CHEAPEST: Walk and drag your luggage to Piazzale Roma and take the local orange land bus (less than 2 euros per person--if you have a valid vaporetto pass, this ride would be free). Some areas of Dorsoduro aren't far from the bus station, but others are quite far so this may not be a convenient walk for many.

CHEAPER: Walk and drag your luggage to Piazzale Roma and take the express blue land bus (about 4 euros per person). Same problem about proximity as previous answer.

CHEAP: Take a vaporetto from the stop closest to you hotel to Piazzale Roma and then take one of the buses mentioned.(6.50 euros per person for the vaporetto plus orange bus; add on another 4 euros for blue express bus--if you have a valid vaporetto pass, vaporetto/orange bus would be free).

MODERATE: Take the Alilaguna boat from its closest stops in Dorsoduro directly to the airport (15 euros per person)

EXPENSIVE: Take a private water taxi from your hotel (or as close to your hotel as a water taxi can approach) directly to the airport--the same dock as Alilaguna (90 euros per taxi)

Thanks. I may need to do the tax refund at the airport, so how early should I be at the airport if the plane is scheduled to leave at 12:30ish?

I have a flight that leaves at 6 40 am, what are my options?

thank you pj

You should be fine arriving an hour prior to your flight. If you can catch the 5:00 bus you will arrive at the airport no later than 5:20. That is what I would do.

This is an international flight, can you give me a link for the bus times, thank you zoecat,
