how to get to Auvers-sur-Oise and Giverny in 1 day?

Hi, I want to take a day trip from Paris to both Auvers-sur-Oise AND Giverny in 1 day.

Previous posts have given directions for going to each of the places out from Paris separately. But I want to do both at the same day.

Please kindly provide a route including which train/buse to take and the stations. Thanks very much!!!

I doubt if you'd enjoy it. It's technically possible to get to both in the same 24-hour period, but you wouldn't see much of one, or maybe both.

For Auvers, take the RER C to Pontoise, or surface rail (SNCF) from the Gare du Nord. See www.ratp.fr for maps, plans and timetables, and www.auvers-sur-oise.com

For Giverny, take the train from Gare St Lazare to Vernon and the bus from there. See www.giverny.org and www.sncf.fr

To Patrick
On my copy of the RER map, it shows RER C last stop as MontignyBeauchamp with no stop at Pontoise. Does that mean I need to take a train at Montigny Beauchamp to Pontoise then a bus to Auvers? The train seems a bit complicated from there. So maybe the train at St Quen to Auvers would do it.
I believe there is a train depot at Auvers.
Do you know of a specific bus tour from Paris to Auvers? Thomas

It will be a busy day, but you should make it, it depends on how much time you need in each place (you knew that the Monet/Giverny won't open until April 1, right?).

From Paris-Nord/Banlieue to Auvers sur Oise the train takes about 1 hr with one transfer in either Persan Beaumont or Valmondois or St. Ouen l'Aumone.

Coming back into Paris you'd switch from Gare du Nord to Gare St. Lazare and take the train to Vernon, duration varies from 39 minutes to more than an hour. Then it's the bus or taxi to Giverny, or you can walk, it's nice.
