How to get from Prague to Zurich ?

We are planning a trip this summer, starting in Zurich, going through Switzerland and Austria, and ending in Prague. We cannot get convenient return flights from Prague to home. Is there any convenient and cheap way to travel from Prague to Zurich, or do we have to come back to Vienna to catch a return flight ? Please advise on what would be most convenient.
While on the subject of travel, what is the best way to travel from Interlaken to Salzburg ? Train, or bus or flight options only please, as we are not planning on driving.
Many thanks for your suggestions in advance

Not sure what an acceptable budget would be for you, but the cheapest option (for a dummy reservation in July) seems to be to fly SAS via CPH for €134pP one-way from Prague to Zurich. Takes 4hrs, incl. stopover.
The cheapest non-stop is €198pP with Swiss, which only needs 80 minutes.

I just checked out www.whichbudget.com and they came up with the airline German Wings at about 130 euros. It is not a direct flight and you would have to go via Cologne. You might want to check out the site anyway, I have found it to be quite useful in the past.

Hi indiancouple,

This is really a lot of travel; I hope you have a lot of time to spend in each destination to get over the transit time & trouble!

You can research all of these train trips at the Swiss rail site,

www.rail.ch.

I just did a check for the Prague - Zürich trip, and it takes 13-15 hours. There is a convenient night train that takes 13h09; it leaves at 17.11 and arrives in Zürich at 06.20. But personally, I wouldn't want to take an overnight train trip if I were flying out the same day. You know, an eight-hour flight on top of a 13-hour train ride!!! So if you took the night train, you should add a day or two in Zürich.

The train trip from Interlaken Ost to Salzburg takes about eight hours with two or three changes.

So, this really is a lot of travel covering quite a lot of ground. I do hope you have about two weeks to get over all the moves and to enjoy the spots you're in. Even if you decide to take inexpensive flights, that will entail a lot of hassle to get to the airport, then hours at the airport, then the flight, then waiting for luggage, then getting into the new town. So even with flights, you are wasting a lot of your vacation time inside sterile and boring structures.

So, if I were you, I would pare down the itinerary and stay within a smaller geographical area.

Good luck!

You could also check out www.harefares.com for cheap flight options from Prague to Zurich. It doesn't show prices but at least narrows down which airlines fly those routes.
