How to get from Heathrow to Kennsington??

Does anyone know the best way to get from Heathrow to this address in Kennsington (its a hostel)16-22 Gunterstone Road, West Kennsington? I went onto the Heathrow website to see what kind of transportation options there are and I have no idea where these places are that the buses, trains etc. drop you off at. We don't want to spend a lot of money so taxis aren't an option. Maybe the tube, bus or one of the express trains. Any help would be appreciated.

Take the tube...Piccadilly line toward Cockfosters , get off at Baron's Court. Just a short walk from there

Avalon's advice is spot on. You can order an Oyster Card online and use that on the tube and bus lines. It is easy to refill, so that you don't need to commit an excessive amount in advance. The oyster is the only way I know of to get a discount on the tube and bus lines.

For future reference, it might help the OP to use www.streetmap.co.uk or www.mappy.com to check addresses in London in relation to public transport.

Why order an Oystercard online - it can be bought quite easily at all Tube stations including the Heathrow ones

When last I arrived at Heathrow, the machines were out of order. (I probably should have looked harder for alternative machines, but jet lag was close to terminal after a 5 hour weather delay.) Because of that, I resolved to buy on-line and have the card in pocket next time I arrived.

There's a manned ticket window - and if you've bought one already you don't need to buy another unless you returned it for the deposit

Hi Subright04- I don't know how much is too much for you, but my DH and I booked a private car through Just Airports for around 27pound, and we were met at Heathrow by the driver and driven to our address, no hassles.

You also get a discount if you book the return journey to the airport.

There are several companies that offer private cars, and they are much cheaper than catching a taxi.

It also worked out cheaper and easier for us than the Heathrow express plus taxi or bus(express is around 14.5pounds/person one way).

The only downside to the cars is if you are held up in immigration/customs, after about 40mins? they charge you extra for waiting time.

If you're dealing with luggage then the tube is not the best way to go.
We use Hotelink (a van service like Super Shuttle) to go from any London AP to anywhere in London - door to door; and is not costly.

The tube is easy. I think it costs about 3-4 GBP to Heathrow.

At the airport station, you have to walk pretty far to get to the station, but there are no stairs to deal with.

At your destination station, it is likely you will have to take an escalator and then one or two short flights of stairs (20 steps maybe). A few stations have elevator access, but not many.

Definitely get an Oyster card. I would get it at the airport station, where there are several manned windows, although you will probably have to stand in line for a few minutes.

Good luck. I just did this last week (already had the Oyster, though I topped it up at the airport) and it was very easy.

P.S. When we travel with 4 people, we book a car with JustAirports, because then the price differential isn't so much...
