How to get from Gatwick to Rye?
Could anyone tell me the easiest way to get to Rye from the Gatwick airport? I'm assuming it's easier to get to Rye from Gatwick than Heathrow, or..?

Sorry, I should have said, without renting a car!

www.nationalexpress.co.uk <BR> <BR>One possibility. A contender for the worlds most annoying website. Looks like one trip some days only at 20gbp. There are other buslines as well but I don't remember the names.

Why not take the train from gatewick to Hastings and then transfer to the train to Rye. Abount 2 1/2 hours.

Roger has the right idea. One ride would be Gatwick (Thameslink Express)-London Bridge-Ashford-Rye. Next would be Gatwick (Connex South Central Express)-Hastings-Rye. <BR>One thing to consider is that Hastings is not a very busy station, so depending on your time of arrival you may have more options with the first route. <BR>See http://www.rail.co.uk/ukrail/planner/planner.htm. <BR>If you are going to be in this area for a few days you may want to check into a Britrail Southeast Pass (http://www.britainontrack.com/passes...html#southeast). <BR>Also, if you're not in a hurry, try the Gatwick-Brighton-Hastings-Rye route. It's longer but the train runs along the Channel shore for much of the route and the scenery is beautiful.

Thank all of you so much. I wasn't sure there was a train station in Rye - I guess it must be a different line than I was looking at (?). I could see rail to Hastings, but that was it. I'll look into all your suggestions.
