How to get from Barcelona airport, Term 1, to Metro Juame 1
 

Just need to find out how to get from Terminal 1 at Barcelona airport to the Metro Jaume 1 stop. Any ideas? I understand a taxi is quite expensive. What are some other (safe) ways! Thanks!

We didn't have to switch to the metro as we got off at Passeig de gracia and walked a few blocks to our apartment. The metro is also easy to use and although people have complained about pickpockets, we fortunately did not have that experience.

Taking the train is a bit uncomfortable when you arrive at T1.

First, you take a (free) shuttle to the airport's train station which is located near T2, not T1.
OP's final destination, metro Jaume I, is not in walking distance from any stops the train from the airport calls at.
A somewhat uncomfortable (lengthy) connection has to be made at Passeig de Gràcia, via underground connecting tunnels, to L4 metro. 2 stops in direction La Pau and you will be at Jaume I.

The advantage of this routing is the price. All can be done for under 1 Euro on one installment of a T-10 (10 ride) ticket which can be bought at the airport's train station.


A bit more costly would be to take directly from T1 the airport bus ("Aerobus") to Pl. Catalunya (terminus) for €5.20 or so.
At Pl. Catalunya, the airport bus should drop you off at the Corte Inglés department store.
At one end (on your right when you get off the bus) the Corte Inglés building has a distinctive rounded edge.
Diagonally across that intersection, you'll find the bus stop "Pl. de Catalunya/Portal de l'Angel".
Take bus 17 from there for either 2 or 3 stops to "Via Laietana/ Pl Ramon Berenguer" or "Via Laietana / Pl. de l'Angel", respectively.
Those 2 bus stops are a bit north or south, respectively, of metro Jaume I.

The inconvenience here is that the Aerobus ticket does not allow free tranfer to regular city bus lines. So you need to buy a single ride ticket from the driver of bus 17 once you board (or find a place within T1 at the airport where you can get the 10-ride-ticket already which I don't know if it is exists).


Eventually, one must say that a taxi is not THAT expensive in Barcelona. Expect a fare of between €25-30, depending on traffic and how much luggage you got.

From what I remember - One euro for each bag
3.10 supplement for airport pick up.
I would say about 35 euros for a cab ( you need a van)

You likely will need two taxis; vans are not common. But perhaps if you wait long enough in the queue you'll luck out. Each taxi will be 25-30 euros and take about 30 minutes.
