Thank you so much for the detailed directions to Fontainebleau. I will either get there tomorrow or Friday but this cold Paris weather is like lazy Sunday morning everyday and despite the dreary feel I am actually loving it; some sporadic rain but mostly chilly and cloudy, perfect for walking miles and miles. Another thing I wanted to do here was check out the Hermes store (just looking no buying!) and learned there are three in Paris. Which one is the best one to go eyeball crazy in? I am not going to all three!!

teacherCanada, so kind of you to invite me to the Fodor reunion tomorrow but I will be at Sainte Chapelle for Vivaldi's Seasons. Maybe I will have time for a drink before the concert and if so I will pop in and say hello. Either way, have a great time with everyone!

You will love the performance at St. Chapelle, geminican. I will see it again the next time I visit. I saw it in September, but I hear I it gets chilly when the weather turns cools, so bundle up!

Thanks catcrazyaf great tip.

Any suggestion where I can find really good steak and frites? I am so craving this and want to get it right this time. I prefer it on the thinner side, like when you open your palm type shape versus a fist shape steak. Thanks for indulging my weird requests!

Sacrée Fleur - rue Clignancourt 18e
Biche au bois 45 av Ledru-Rollin 12e
wild meat here (gibier : deer, etc)
Santa Carne 24 rue des Tournelles 11e
argnetinian

I like my steak thick - to get it thin, best to order 'entrecote' in France.

You should be able to find steak frites on many cafe menus in the center--5th and 6th also.

I'm wondering how you feel your budget is working out. Good I hope.
And Ste Chappelle will be fun. It is cold inside so take a layer.

Thanks for the steak recs pariswat. Gretchen so far so good with the budget, I think, have lost count but nice of you to ask :) Last full day tomorrow so trying to figure out how I'm going to spend it. Didn't make it to Fontainebleau, surprise surprise and contemplating if I should go tomorrow or just keep it chill and relaxed, maybe keep it chill and relaxed. This might be my favorite trip to Paris thus far thank you for all the suggestions and making it extra special, really added to the spice. Sainte Chapelle was an out of this world experience for me and so glad I took the advice to bundle up, it was a freezer!!
