How to Dress

My husband and I are headed to Europe for our honeymoon next week. One of the places we will visit is Rome. I have been advised that certain churches do not allow women in pants. Only long skirts, dresses and arms must be compeltely covered. Can anyone verify this. Also any travel trips are appreciated while visiting Europe.

Hi dd,

In all churches you will be required to cover knees and shoulders.

I would suggest not wearing bifurcated garments to the Vatican.

You can wear dresses, normal lenght skirts, capris, slacks, short sleeves tops, but not tanks tops.
I always have a large scarf in my purse, just in case I need to stop at a church.
You dont need to cover your knees, as long your attire is not a micro mini skirt or dress..

And men can not wear shorts or tanks either.

I was at the Vatican last week wearing a short leave shirt and carrying a sweater. I got stopped and was asked to put on the sweater. Lots of people were being turned away for sleeveless tops and shorts.

You can wear slacks. At least they made no effort to stop me in slacks. It was chilly so I had a long sleeve top on at the time.
