Gordes does not have any restaurants IN town that I would go to. I haven't been there in a few years ('03) to check out restaurants - so they may have a passable one now. The Bastide de Gordes is quite pricey. Les Bories is a Michelin 1 star, but it's 2 K away with an uphill to navigate each way if you walk. Mas Tourteron & les Estellan (dined at both several times) are not within walking distance - and neither is Ferm de la Huppe (5K away). Actually, as I remember, the Bastide is the ONLY hotel actually IN Gordes - the rest are a few Ks away (down/up steep hills) - with several in the same area on the way to Senanque (we stayed at one many moons ago). So if you want to stay near Gordes, your best bet is to stay at one of the hotel/restaurants (if you don't want to drive to dinner) that are close by. The hotel at the Bastide is also quite pricey. Friends stayed there when they visited us & their room was a little small. We stayed at the Domaine de l'Enclos when we were there in the mid-90s - and it was quite nice. It had a restaurant then, which was only open for guests at the hotel. There are a few other hotel/restaurants on the same 'strip" of road (to Senanque) including Les Bories. Several people have posted good reports about the Hotel/restaurant Ferm de la Huppe, and a friend stayed at Romarins and really liked it (I think they serve food to guests several days a week)

Roussillon had one restaurant that I checked out - but didn't choose to dine there.

Your best bet would probably be Bonnieux. I'm not a big fan of le Fournil (only dined there once - and didn't want to return), but others like it.

What I like about staying in the Luberon is driving through that pretty area with the Luberon mountains "aglow" at dusk, and the vineyards and lavender fields on the way to dinner. Often we'll head out an hour early for dinner just to see it at dusk.

There are several good restaurants around Kevins place (Apt, Bonnieux, and St Saturnin are very close) - and you get the added bonus of his advice regarding places to visit, markets, hiking trails (his speciality), scenic drives etc. As you probably know, he's an American and his place has American showers (rare in France), and his French wife is a fabulous cook - so thus the "gourmet" breakfasts (which are almost always waaaay overpriced in hotels).

Lourmarin would be nice. I like to dine at Le Fournil in Bonnieux.
stay
Fermé d la Hupppe in Gordes
or Hotel Les Romanis on the Rte De Seneque.
Outside of Gordes,
Au Ralenti du Lierre in Les Beaumettes.
I like the Mas tourteron in Aux Imberts (buy her cookbook)one of the best female chefs in Provence
Dining in Gordes,
La Renaissance and Comptoir du Victuaillier but haven't been to them in th last few years.
Roussillon, Mas de Garrigon
dine at La Tarasque
I prefer to base around or in St Remy. but I'm very fond of Les Apilles. with it's gnarled olive trees.
