How to book a "off-line" hotel (Hotel Due Torri)
 

I am going to Rome for 5 days with my wife. After reading your messages I am quite keen on Hotel Due Torri and looking of a standard double (e.g. 172 ?235€).
I have not found any on-line booking site for Due Torri.
How did you make your inquiries and reservations?
Did you just send an email? Did you use English?
What are things to ask and make sure before making a reservation?

Which floor? Direction of the room (windows)? Does all the rooms have terraces / balcony e.g.

Other hotel recommendations are also welcome!

I have yet to find a hotel in Italy that either
1. doesn't has someone who speaks english when you phone, or
2. cannot reply to your email in english.

So many tourists come from the english speaking world or have english as a second language as their only means of communicationg in foreign countries, that every hotel accomodates english communication in some form.

Thanks Jody, I found the website aswell. Thats where I found the email address but they don't offer much info in there.
Now I see that my choise of words was bad:"off-line" was suppose to mean "no on-line booking".

bettyk, That seems to be in V.le Tripoli 223, Rimini not in Vicolo del Leonetto, 23 Rome .

did you email them? When booking in Europe I usually inquire through email but send my credit card info via fax or phone call. If I can't find the email, I call.

After many posts here on Fodors about the "email issue", I now have no problem with handling the whole transaction by email, and in English. You can send the email with the CC# in 2 parts for extra safety.

We booked our reservations at the Hotel Fontanella Borghese (sister hotel to the Due Torri) using email. Staff at both hotels speak English (as does the very friendly owner).

You can make your inquiries (rates, room configurations, etc.) and then decide based on their responses.

FYI, we've stayed at the Fontanella Borghese twice. Both rooms were nicely decorated, comfortable and quiet. A/C controls in the room. Bathrooms were on the small side but typical for the price range. Nice breakfast room with fairly good variety of food. The staff was extremely helpful as was the owner who was on site several times during our stays. The hotel's reception desk is two floors above ground level (elevator), and rooms are contained on two floors (no elevator).

We walked past the Due Torri several times. Reception is on the ground level, but I don't know whether there is an elevator. We liked the location of the Fontanella Borghese only slightly more than that of the Due Torri.

We stayed there a couple years ago -- booked it online through their website. When are you going? If you're too early, many places won't take reservations. I'm surprised they didn't at least respond. It was a delightful place and the staff was excellent.
