Well i guess the Antonium was special to me because i was a stamp collector and had several stamps with it on it and am old enough to remember the 1958 (?) Worlds Exhibition or Fair or whatever it was the beaming icon of. But i agree for most it would be time better spent elsewhere.

It was special to my husband also - think it was a childhood dream.

For our single day in Brussels (actually only about 2/3 day), we'll probably do two museums -- the Comics Museum and the Horta Museum (art nouveau) -- but this choice could change depending on our mood when we get there in June.

Brussels also has a unique site - an Amsterdam-like Redlight district - located along the train tracks just beyond the Gare du Nord - right side of train when heading north from Brussels - and like Amsterdam's fine to walk through - scantilly clad bossomy gals behind red-neon-lit windows. If you can't get there if going north by train keep your eyes peeled on the right side of the train, which runs on raised tracks right by the strip.

i have never visited amsterdam. I have visited belgium. If you go to brussels, you coiuld never runout of things to do. If you like museums, be aware museums are generally closed on mondays. In brussels, make sure you go to grand place, the royal fine arts museum, the musical instrument museum, and walk around the grand place to find a mural of tin tin. If you like to shop, go to avenue louise or the galeries st. hubert. However, don't go to the rue de bouchers for meals, because the dishes are very expensive. If you want to find a good liege waffle, or ice cream, australian ice cream is your place. In brugge, you should take a canal tour, go to markt, and berg, and go to some of the museums. brugge is beautiful. In gent, the gravestein is good. Also, meander through the shopping area.

The best thing i like about Brussels and Bruges or any Belgian town is the ubiquitous Frites wagons and stands that serve fresh-cut (usually rather than the frozen frites or french fries in other countries) frites in paper cones topped with a mind-boggling variety of sauces - mayo - ketchup - some kind of peanut sauce - curry sauce, etc.
