Seems generally sound - - not so much responding as bringing your message back up "to the top"... it's that time of year (again, happens every January) that "traffic" here on the forum really zooms up, and an unanswered post can fall out of the "top 50" in just an hour or so...

Best wishes,

Rex

It sounds pretty good, but I'd find the one night in Tuscany and the full week in Postitano out of balance. Personally, I'd spit them to 4 nights each or maybe since you want to do so much in the Amalfi area, 3 nights Tuscany and 5 in Positano.

I'm a bit confused, but you say you'll be in Italy for 12 days, but list 13 nights for your itinerary.
You arrive early in Venice, will your hotel check you in early or ,at least, hold your bags? This allows 3 full days there, which is good.

You'll have 2 nights and almost 2 full days (depending on when you take the train)in Florence. This is good, but with no day trips.

One day/night in Sienna is okay, again no day trips.
I,however, think one night stays can be tough in towns like this. Parking, lugging the bags, checking in, unpacking, packing, etc. isn't optimum, but should work.

Seven full nights in Postano seems like a lot to me.I would add at least one more night in Sienna, but we all have different tastes. It seems you are mostly interested in the coast and your trip gives you plenty of that.

What time is your flight from Naples? If early, you may want to spend your last night there.

Hi bw,

The major museums and other sights in Florence are closed on Mondays.

May I suggest that you fly out on a Monday? Arrive Venice Tuesday morning.
Friday - train to Florence

I would also add a day to Florence.

>staying in postiano as home base we can drive and do day trips <

I recomend against a car on the AC in June. Where will you park? The road gets congested in the season.

Furthermore, there is frequent bus service Florence/Siena and Siena/Montalcino.

You can also train from Siena to Naples to Sorrento and bus to Positano. It will take about 2 hr longer than driving.

Are you sure that you want a car?

only 2 days in Tuscany? You're killing me!

I'll bet I know why you're staying 7 days in Positano...you're renting an apartment, aren't you? We'll be doing the same thing, June 11-18.

When will you be there? If it's the same dates, we'd love to have you over for a drink.

hi all

first great tips
im still shifting my dates a bit and the museums being closed on monday will be a factor (thanks ira)

and mr go you got me thinking about an apt... we were going to do a hotel but who did you book yours through? I may want to do the same, what's the range of prices..? do any have pools?

and if we're there the same time in june we'd love a drink!

thanks everyone!

We booked this place through an outfit called Summer In Italy...

http://www.summerinitaly.com/eng/ren...0105!italy.htm

They have a rather large selection of rentals in the area, running a gamut of price points. Nearly all of them require a full week rental, minimum.

Apparently our place is next door to Bar Internazionale, which is something of a local landmark due to its being a bus stop. If you find yourselves in that neighborhood June 11 - 18, please feel free to knock on our door.
