That's easy...from Naples, just take the train up to Rome and then connect to the Leonardo Express Train out to the airport...there are a couple of fast trains that only take about an hour and a half I think...if not, the trip takes about 2 hours by train to Termini.

Does it make more sense for us to fly to Rome and take the train?

Would the pricing be different and is the train better than connecting flights?

Just don't want to waste alot of our precious vacation time commuting by ground.

Totally depends on flight times, etc. - remember too that the Rome airport is far from the city center/Train station...so that has to factor in time too. If prices are the same...anf there is a good connection without a long layover, I would fly into Naples...just simpler...if the prices are way off (sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't)...I'd fly into Rome.

Never mind - just checked - there is no direct flight to Rome from Boston so that buys us nothing.

Alitalia is the cheapest, connecting through Milan. We know the bashing Alitalia takes, but we had no problems with them our trip last year to Rome.... However, a 7am flight the day we return to the States will be interesting....

That's their only choice.

CC..Many thanks, yet again.

I will look into all this...

Hi all. Thanks for your help.

Using Kayak.com, I found a great airfare and better flight/connection times on SwissAir. How are they for an airline and how is the Zurich airport to connect in/out of?

I am a little worried, as the tickets are through cheaptickets.com. Has anyone used them?

I have only bought through a discounter (Orbitz) once where they lost our entire reservation. Usually I book through the airlines direct.

What happens if for some reason also we need to change our flights?

Correction -

Tickets are with Airfare.com, not Cheaptickets.com

If it were me, I'd wait and book direct through Alitalia or Delta (Alitalia's partner) online the next time there's a fare sale. I prefer dealing directly with the airline. I would need to save a lot of money to make it worth getting a third party involved, especially flying internationally. I'm fairly sure you're looking at higher fees or more complications when changing your ticket through one of these websites vs. direct with the airline.

Swiss International (Swissair went bankrupt years ago) is great and a heck of a lot more reliable than Alitalia. Connections at Zurich are a snap.

Have you looked to see if you can find the same fare at the airline's own Web site?
