How should I spend 7 days in Norway?

I am planning on spending 7 nights in Norway next July. I will be stopping off in another country on the way so I should not be Jet-lagged by the time I arrive. I would like to see Oslo, Bergen and the fjords. I like museums, nature, and architecture. I realize this is not a lot of time for this beautiful country. I don't wish to rent a car and would like to incorporate one of the Nutshell tours in my visit. How should I divide my time?

3 nights in Oslo, 2 in the fjord area and 2 in Bergen would be one suggestion.

The Nutshell tour between Oslo and Bergen is essentially a package of transportation. You could purchase each leg individually, but do not need to do so. You can interrupt your tour at any point, which is what you might want to do. InMiami's suggestion looks like a good way to split up your time. Or maybe one night in the fjord area and three in Bergen.

The Hurtigruten Cruise from Bergen to Kirkenes and/or return will take you through the fjords as well as some lovely towns. The off boat tours are great as is the food. You don't have to do the whole lot, you can just do sections.

If you like architechture then you must visit Alesund. It was destroyed by fire in 1904 and rebuilt using the Art Nouveau style and there is a great walking tour of the town and museum.

Bergen and Oslo are lovely, but we are not city folk and a day in each was plenty. Take the Public Transport ferry for a cheap ride around the fjord.

Thanks for your responses. I am considering spending just one night in Flam as Michael has suggested and adding it to Bergen. Has anyone taken the Sognefjord In a Nutshell boat from Flam to Bergen? Is that a better bet than the Norway in a Nutshell bus from Flam to Bergen?

One usually takes a ferry from Flam to Gutvangen (sp?) and from there the Nutshell bus goes to the next train station. The train ride to Bergen is not that interesting. If you have the option and the time, it might be best to take the boat, although some feel that the high speed boats do not give the same experience of the fjords as the regular local ferries.

For architecture, you must see the amazing new Opera House in Oslo.
