How should I get from Paris to Poissy?
I'm visiting Paris in a few weeks and would really like to see the Villa Savoye. Is there a metro station in Poissy? If not, what's the easiest way to get there?

RER.
Forgot which line - search on ratp.fr or google 'RER - Poissy'. |
Normally you would take RER A direct from Paris to Poissy but there will be major disruptions on the RER A until August 28th. More info on RER A works here (in French):
http://www.transilien.com/trafic/det...egorie=travaux The alternative to get from Paris to Poissy is to take one of the suburban trains that depart from Gare Saint-Lazare to Poissy (line J). Use www.transilien.com to plan your journey. It's about 1.5km from the train station to Villa Savoye. You can walk or take bus 50. Instructions on the Villa Savoye website: http://www.villa-savoye.monuments-nationaux.fr/ |
RER line A5, end of the line. That's in zone 5, there are no metro stations outside zone 3.

The RER A disruptions (due to planned works on the line) do not start until July 25th or so, so it depends when you are there. Normally it's just the tracks between La Défense and Auber that are shut anyway, so if you just get metro line 1 round to La Défense you *might* be able to change to the RER A to Poissy from there. A train from St Lazare was going to be my other suggestion too.

There are far more disruptions on RER A than just Auber to La Défense and the disruptions for Cergy/Poissy started on July 15th. The link I provided gives detailed info.

You should move by train. It's quite fast (17 minutes) and cheap (around $6). On an average weekday, there are are 64 trains trains per day travelling from Paris to Poissy.

St Lazare option, then.
