<< My wife and I argue about flip flops all the time. As a compromise, I wear one flip flop and one tennis shoe >>

What a vision you are, cold! White shorts, purple bum pack, one flip flop and one tennie (what colors are they?). Do you wear a hat? You Canadians are certainly interesting people!!!

My husband and I were in Paris and Provence last summer. In the days, I wore casual skirts with dressier tank tops, and in the evenings a black flowing skirt with varying tops. The key to looking stylish seemed to be wearing a scarf, and I bought a few while I was there! Be aware that it can get quite chilly in Paris at night, even in July--and it rained off and on while we were there. A cardigan or wrap will be an essential item for nights.

The French women in Provence were wearing beautiful, flowing tops over either well-cut jeans or linen/cotton pants. I felt way too tailored down there, but my husband looked fine in cotton slacks with neutral colored shirts. As the trip progressed, we found ourselves picking up more clothes, since they were so beautiful and cool in the hotter weather of that part of France.

Whatever you wear, be comfortable! You are going to one of the nicest places for your vacation--enjoy!

Adrienne - I don't want to sound like a nutcase. If we are going to a formal dinner, I will wear two tennis shoes.

We bought really nice sun hats in Peru. The kind that covers the back of your neck. African explorerish. But again, we take them off in finer French restaurants.

Right now, some days I think to myself "EFF it! I'm gonna wear whatever the hell I WANNA wear."

Stick with this thought.

Seriously, where what is comfortable. Just don't wear the superfluous scarf. Makes a man look like a wuss.

Honestly, what happened to Tommy Hilfiger, Gant, A&F, Ralph Polo Lauren, even Levis, Gap, or stores like Urban Outfitters, etc. etc.?

I have to laugh. In the US, A&F and Urban Outfitters are for teenagers, not adults.
