How old were you when you the first time you went?

Hi; I was 55 when my sister 'forced' me too visit her in Amsterdam. She was working there for a year. As fate would have it, she was called back to the U.S., but we had use of her car and her apartment on a canal. Now 75 and after 29 more trips to Europe, we celebrate our 50th Aniversary on a Scandinavian Tour in August. Life is good.

tdk, yes, $1000 went a lot further in 1956, but it was also a large chunk of one's salary. It would have been about a third of my father's salary as head of a small town bank. It would have also been half to a third of a teacher's annual salary in our small town.

Another one born in Europe (in England).
I now live part of the year in England (near the Peak District) and part in France (Périgord Noir).
The first time I went to the US was last year (New York) at the grand old age of 47!
