How much was your airfare to Europe this summer? Just curious
 

I know that airfares have been up for some time. After months of searching for anything reasonable we ended up not going to Europe this summer, for the first time in the past 12 years. For places that would cost about $800 to get to in the past we were unable to find anything below $1300, and we tried all possible websites that we knew about. I am just curious what was the price you were able to get. Perhaps, we should've waited longer and been more persistent.

We booked flights from New Orleans to Barcelona for mid October -- $780 each. I don't know what the fare is right now -- once I purchase, I hate to check -- for fear the price has dropped. My son traveled to Rome in mid-summer on short notice -- he paid $1000.

I'm leaving Sept 23, returning Oct 10.

JFK - BRU - JFK non-stop for $636 on Delta. Bought on July 17 on Delta's site.

I jumped on an Aerlingus sale in March. Paid just over $800 for flights from Boston to Paris via Dublin for June 2010. Pretty good since we bought four tickets.

rbnwdlr, you are lucky. The best I found for Paris this summer was 1200+. Did you get that on kayak.com?
