How much to tip a tour guide for a full day private tour?

DH and I will be taking a private tour (16 hours) from Prague to Auschwitz with Wittmann Tours. I'm not sure if there will be a guide and driver or, whether the guide is also the driver? We have never done a tour like this before and I'm curious if there's a standard rule of thumb for tipping a guide who gives a great tour?? This tour is extremely expensive, it's about $1000USD for the day. I'm assuming the guide we get will be an employee of this company and not the owner herself. Assuming the guide is good, is a 10% tip reasonable? They will give us 10% off the total cost of the tour if we pay in cash ---which we plan to do. I was thinking that we'd just give the $1000 in cash and that would include the tour and tip.

We leave for Budapest, Vienna, Prague and Amsterdam tomorrow. I know my question is last minute but, I'm hoping someone can weigh in with some current tipping advise.

Much appreciated!!

10% is fine and sure will be appreciated. God though that is one expensive tour!

Thanks so much for weighing in! They estimate the tour at 17-18 hours so it'll be a very long day. This is our birthday present to each other and something we've been looking forward to it for the past year. We have a 6am pickup and between 11pm and 12am drop-off. A VERY long day!!
