How much time for Canal St. Martin area?

My teen daughter and I are visiting Paris in late March/early April for 4 days. We are staying in the Marais, a minute walk from the Square du Temple.

On our first full day in Paris, which is Easter Sunday, our plan is to spend the morning exploring the food shops on Rue de Bretagne, then doing some shopping in the Marais before a 6 PM concert at St. Chapelle.

We will have more time to explore the Marais on Tuesday morning, when we will do a historical walking tour with Paris Walks.

So I am wondering if on Sunday we can also fit in a brief stroll around the Canal St. Martin area since it’s not too far from our apartment. How long would you allot for exploring this area? Will many of its stores be closed on Easter Sunday? Favorite streets to stroll in this area?

Also, what is the best time of day to explore the area? When will it be the liveliest?

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Along the canal itself there is not much in the way of shops, so you don't need to worry about them being closed. You will encounter quite a few cafés and restaurants.

I was in Paris for the month of November 2023 and my apt was one block from Rue de Bretagne. It was a WONDERFUL shopping street. I was there in April 2023 on Easter Sunday and although I did not go there, not quite sure the shops would be open on Easter Sunday. Normally open 830-2 on Sunday the Marche Enfants Rouge at
[email protected] might be good to contact to see if they will be open to get an indication about the rest of the shops.

You might enjoy strolling le Parc Butte Chaumont.
Interesting, varied topography, popular with locals, yet right in the dity
