Okay, how about laundry on the road? Is it true that a woman should buy 21 pairs of undies and just throw them away (discreetly)as opposed to washing them? Socks?
What is a typical laundry cost, and should I have the hotel do it, or find a laundry on the street? |
Hi seeks,
>Is it true that a woman should buy 21 pairs of undies and just throw them away (discreetly)as opposed to washing them? Socks? < Nonsense! Pish tosh! My lady wife brngs a few pair of necessaries and washes them in the sink. I do the same. ((I)) |
I research the location of laundries ahead of time. In Amsterdam, there's a good laundromat at 30 Amstel. They will wash, dry, and fold a load of your laundry for 8.50 Euros. There's scarcely any savings doing it yourself.
In Paris, there are numerous laundromats. Look at http://www.pagesjaunes.fr . In Venice, there's a laundromat on Rio terrà S. Leonardo . In Florence, there are numerous ones, including reasonably priced wash, dry, and fold services. |
Laundry: I certainly don't take 21 pairs of underwear -LOL. I do a combination of washing out delicates in the hotel sink using the hotel shampoo plus a trip to a laundry one-time somewhere mid-trip if necessary. Of course the hotel service is a nice luxury but pricier. Mostly I try to take clothes that can be worn many times without needing laundry.

Thanks for the laundry info. You are all so helpful. I don't know how I would do this all without you. First trips anywhere are hard, but especially in an area that is so expensive...it's better to have your ducks in a row, I think. Any more pearls of wisedom are welcome.
