How much is too much?

Will be arriving in Rome from London and planting our exicted selves down in an apartment 4 blocks from the Vatican? The agency has a pickup service (45.00 EURO) which includes luggage and Tax, this is a good price, yes or not so much. Thank You for ANY help, we are going to the first time in June. Isabel Arrastia

That sounds pretty good to me, even with me being a cheapskate. If you were to take public transport, I think it would cost at least 20 Euros with the train to Termini followed by the metro, and you'd have to walk 4 blocks, and up and down a lot of steps, with luggage. I think the price may be a little cheaper than a taxi as well (assuming you are coming from FCO).

Good to know I am not the only cheapskate in the world! Good point also about the luggage! Thank you!!!

When we have rented apartments, the agency has had someone meet us there to show us how to work the appliances, etc. If, as seems reasonable, the pick-up service is by the same person, I think it would be a good way to get some additional information on the neighborhood, apartment access, etc.

I think 45 Euros is a good price. We just returned from Rome. Our B&B was 100 meters from the Vatican and it cost us 55 Euros for a taxi to the airport. We had it arranged by the B&B.
