Since I rarely start a post this should not be a problem for either of us.

Marilyn Apr 17th, 2005 10:45 AM

ralf, if you don't like the way people respond, ignore them. No one is deliberately trying to spoil your posts. You do have a slightly odd way of expressing yourself. (Perhaps English is not your first language?) And you do say some strange things sometimes. But the idea of getting "revenge" on an internet talk forum is very childish. Are you a child, or an adult?

Eloise Apr 17th, 2005 10:51 AM

Marilyn, Suze:

It's obvious, as you have said, Marilyn, that this is a disturbed personality.

Unfortunately, we are giving her attention, which is what she desperately craves.

But there are very definite limits, and calling someone a "dumb a**hole," even in a foreign language, goes beyond them. For some reason, my ISP refuses to send messages over Outlook Express, and the one time I e-mailed the Fodors editors, it took them over a week to reply. May I ask one of you to please tell the editors that rafl005 has overstayed her welcome?

And while you're at it, you might ask them to delete adoreroma as well, who is posting erroneous and misleading messages about things and places she evidently knows nothing about.

>>> if you don't like the way people respond, ignore them...<<<

Not to butt in on your discussions here (but you, Marilyn, did in mine with Scarlett the other day), but, had this same mantra of yours been practiced by people like Scarlett and her pet Elaine, I wouldn't have wasted my time trading potshots with them.

I made a reasonable response to an OP that Scarlett, the mindless one, decided was not in her favor. Whatever made her think that I was refering to her was totally within her hollow mind.

There is a sort of double-standard here when scarlett and a few of her gang members made sure to escalate the incident, without trying to get an understanding of the root. At this point, I've decided that there are 2 ways to approach postings here - either, be helpful with intelligent posts or snidely point out the stupid ones.

suze Apr 17th, 2005 11:05 AM

I posted that there are websites showing maps with exactly the high crime areas of Los Angeles.

And that a waitress does not personally benefit from an error on a restaurant bill when using a computerized system.

But I realize logic is not the issue.

ralf005 Apr 17th, 2005 11:19 AM

The one who made the post about the maps was not you, it was a guy, but I forgot his name. too bad I still remember isn't it?

ralf005 Apr 17th, 2005 11:20 AM

This user name will be blocked tomorrow, so I will log in using a new name, and you will fall in love with me like that!

Scarlett Apr 17th, 2005 11:21 AM

ralf , Maybe I won't love you but at least you make me laugh.

ralf005 Apr 17th, 2005 11:22 AM

Scarlett! the fact that I don't like your friends is actually good ! do you want someone that might cheat one you with one of your frinds!

makemyday Apr 17th, 2005 11:28 AM

scarlett;

Not once did I ever mention you in my posts, yet your gulty feelings were made obvious with that one post.

Now that I looked at your previous other posts, I am actually amused at what is obviously a 65+ year-old who is desperately looking to discover, for the first time, her lost youth by making out like a 13-year-old on the internet.

"Disgusting" is the word for it.

Scarlett Apr 17th, 2005 11:31 AM

makemyday-since Fodors saw fit to delete that thread, full of your unsolicited insults, let me remind you, you called me a gullible know-it-all when I answered a posters question about making reservations in Paris...and when I asked you about it you did not tell me you were calling someone else names. You never told me that you were not talking about me, even when I asked you outright, and I did post right away and told you I was offended.
So cut out the innocent poor poster who got picked on act, it isn't going to work..
Others had something to say because you were so out of line.

suze Apr 17th, 2005 11:33 AM

Actually a couple different posters gave you several websites with LA crime statistics shown on maps. I took the time to do a websearch because I was curious about the answer.

Since you'll be moving there soon, you're just what Los Angeles needs, you should go far in that town (sorry no offence meant to my angelian friends).

Iregeo Apr 17th, 2005 11:35 AM

So, Mucky, what do you think? Overly cautious in avoiding some of these nutcases?

zbjoon Apr 17th, 2005 11:36 AM

Hi Mucky - I came across Fodor’s travel site for the first time last July when I was trying to plan a trip. I was very appreciative of the fact that I got very valuable advice in planning my trip from Fodor’s travel site in a very helpful manner. I just wished I had come across Fodor’s travel site in the past. I had to discover a lot of the logistics on my own before and it was not so easy.

It appears to me that many interesting people post on this board. I might not agree with all their views but nevertheless, they seem interesting.

suze Apr 17th, 2005 11:39 AM

<I know the internet can be a dangerous place, but are we over cautious?>

Mucky- better than simply answering your question, we gave you a live demonstration!

ralf005 Apr 17th, 2005 11:42 AM

I am not supposed to laugh at this but OK :))

platzman Apr 17th, 2005 11:45 AM

As Ronald Reagan said:

"Trust...but verify."

cmt Apr 17th, 2005 11:46 AM

After four and a half years on Fodors, I have come to the ineluctable conclusion that among Fodorites, or at least among people who are both interested in travel and heavy users of the Internet, there are a higher percentages of nutty people and of nasty people and of nutty nasty people than in the population at large.

makemyday Apr 17th, 2005 11:48 AM

Hey scarlett!

Like I previously stated, what whirred within your hallowed mind to come up with the idea that I was implicitly or explicitly referring to you as a "gullible know-it-all"????
Your second childhood mentality precipitated that bandwith-wasting discussion, in the first place.

Marilyn Apr 17th, 2005 12:01 PM

Oh my, if Scarlett is over 65, I really must find out the name of her plastic surgeon, because she looks maaaaahvelous for her age! :D
