About a dozen - but some were business. That's out of 60+ trips to europe. And have never been on a vacation trip that is only Italy - I prefer a mix of atmospheres - esp pairing Italy with Switz, Austria or Germany for the contrast.

Not sure, would have to sit down and figure it out. But Italy is the only country I have ever been to in Europe..how pathetic is that, lol!
Why? Well because my late husband only wanted to go to Italy. And since I have been on my own I find I only want to be in Italy also which has always been like a "home away from home" and also because I have so many close friends there.

I've been three times and I'll definitely be back. I love Italy, and Rome captured my heart from the moment I arrived. I certainly travel to other places though. We're off to Croatia in November and Ireland in February.

My first time was 35 years ago after 2nd year university, and since then I have been back twice ( last time was 14 months ago).
My next time is for 3 weeks beginning next week, and I know for certain that it will not be my next.

Italy - 13 times. It is definitely where my heart feels at home.
Other countries? Love them, visit them, but not as often.
myvenezia, I think it was Proust who said "In Venice, my dream became my address."
That's how I feel about the whole country. Sigh!

Since 1987, I've been going to Italy at least twice a year. We, (wife and I) own an apartment in Gaeta, which we purchased after visiting Gaeta and fell in love with it. It is a beautiful town, with great scenery, weather and eating places. I could very easily see some people making a full time residence there, and the temptation to do so is great. However, when I return home to the US of A, I thank my lucky stars that I'm home in Maryland, as much as I love Gaeta and Italy. I've traveled extensively in Italy (as well as France), and there is no place which can compare with America!

I've been 3 times. The first time was my first trip to Europe, and it was also on my own. The second time was with my boyfriend, on a guided tour of Europe. He ended up proposing in Venice, and a year later, we honeymooned in the Amalfi Coast!
We travel in other places, but if I could travel in only one country, it would be Italy. Don't know why! I just love it there.

I think nine times, some for extended periods.
And though I still have to see Sicily, and parts of Tuscany, I think I'll be cutting back on Italy.
Getting to a point (early 50's) where I can see aging putting a limit on the places I can go and the things I can do. Italy is easy and will probably still be there.
Meanwhile there is the shamefully neglected Asia -- India, Japan, China and the Southeast. North Africa and the Middle East -- Morocco, Egypt, Syria and Jordan in particular.
Of late I've been spending some very rewarding time in Mexico (Probably the biggest "sleeper" destination, once you're off the coast.) and further south.
And I've only been to Spain once, and never to Greece or Istanbul . . .
Just got to bite the bullet.

I have been to Italy 9 times, and feel so incredibly blessed to have been able to do this.
We have been to England three times as a couple and Paris three times. I'm not counting a couple of visits pre-marriage.
I am now planning a trip that will combine some of Italy with France. I would really like to see more of France.
I love Italy and hope to go to Rome in the winter, but I am now longing to see a few other parts of Europe.

I have been once, but will probably return this summer.
Ironically enough, I put off going to Italy because lots of my Spanish friends said "if you go there, you will never want to come back here." They were wrong, but I know what they were talking about. One of my most repeated comments was "I could totally live here."
