How many stepsAt Metro Abbessess?

Please give me an estimate of the steps at the Metro stop Abbesses. Knee is worse. Might have to change hotels! Can't take a taxi every time I leave the area.

According to Access Paris, exactly 285 steps. But, you could use the elevator at the station, or use the buses (see www.ratp.fr). Montmartre is full of steps and steep sidewalks. Not the neighborhood I'd select if I had a bad knee.

Donna, thanks for responding! I am e-mailing you direct, if you don't mind.

There is a very good set of elevators at the Abesses station, but as Donna aud, the whole neighborhood is hilly.

This is my metro stop in Paris, and I find it easier on the knees than the Anvers/Pigalle stops...from there you do walk a steep incline up trying to elbow through the crowds...but from Abbessess, you are already half way up, and once out of the elevators and on the the street, the streets are fairly level and you can walk directly down the rue y le tac to the funiculaire...once it takes you up, you really don't have to deal with many stairs! Cobblestones and sketch artists maybe........

When the train stops, get off onto the platform and walk right to the elevators, once out of the elevators, exit the automatic doors and turn left up about 20 stairs, and walk left down the rue y l tac, cross rue les trois freres and continue straight ahead about 2 more minutes and on the left will be the funiculaire which needs a metro ticket to use.

Bon Voyage!
