Great post. Immortal, unless banned forever.

sferguso Nov 2nd, 2009 06:12 PM

But the real question - should I tip the guy who changes the lightbulb?

Saraho Nov 2nd, 2009 07:31 PM

Makes me want to hunt up other great old posts.

How many women with PMS does it take to change a light bulb?
Answer: four.
Because that's just the way it is!!

cyndyq Nov 2nd, 2009 08:15 PM

Actually, the answer is 24. Sounds like a lot of fodorites, I know. I believe most of us would (all by ourselves) just light a candle and be done with it!!!

cigalechanta Nov 2nd, 2009 08:16 PM

it takes one dim -witted light bulb to put out out all the
bright witty ones.

Dear Fodorites,

I am new to this board, so I hope that you won't find my questions too stupid.

Me and my family (87, 80, 66, 59, 44, 40, 21, 19, 5) want to change a light bulb. We haven't done this before.

Where is the best place to do this?

Should we hire a guide? Take a tour?

How much will it cost?

Is March/April better than Sept/Oct?

Can we wear tennis shoes? Are blue jeans OK, or do we have to go formal - long sleeve shirt?

We would like to change lightbulbs in England, Ireland, France, and Italy. We have 10 days, and would like to see all the bulbs. Can anyone recommend the best bulbs? Are the bulbs different in France? I heard that the bulbs in France have attitude...

stfc Nov 3rd, 2009 06:44 AM

My screw-thread American bulbs don't have pins, can I use them in England?

What are the must-see lightbulbs in Paris?

kleeblatt Nov 3rd, 2009 06:45 AM

Go to Holland for bulbs.

cyndyq Nov 3rd, 2009 08:36 AM

Dayenu: <i>"I found it"</i>

Was there a call to find it?

Dayenu Nov 3rd, 2009 09:09 AM

Ira :)) you certainly must wear black!

Fodor's moved this thread from Europe, I've noticed.

Barbara Nov 3rd, 2009 09:16 AM

Well, I got a little lump in my throat when I saw the name of the OP.

colduphere Nov 3rd, 2009 09:25 AM

How about a heavy bulb?

GypsyMaiden Nov 3rd, 2009 09:30 AM

However many fodorites attend the GTG to change the lightbulb. If the editor shows up, then add 1.

Michel_Paris Nov 3rd, 2009 10:26 AM

Do I tip the bulber?

oliverg Nov 3rd, 2009 02:01 PM

Wenn ze lightbulbs are changed, who cares how many vere dere to change them? It hall depends vere in ze space-time continuum you are. Ze answer could be infinite.

schnauzer Nov 3rd, 2009 02:54 PM

thanks Dayenu, I had a good laugh.

"If I buy the bulbs three months in advance on the SNCF site, do I get a good price?"
