how many days would you allocate to Lisbon?

We will be staying for two weeks in Portugal next June. If you had 14 days how many would you spend in Lisbon and what for you would be the "must sees". The guidebooks seem to suggest 4 days, does that sound realistic? Thanks

Four days/five nights would be a good start. You need one day for Belem and one day for Sintra/Cascais/Estoril.

I did a TR for one of my trips to Lisbon with most of the main sites included. See:

Portugal is a great destination - hope you have a good trip.

It will all depend on your interest. Portugal was one of the leaders in the exploration of the world and as a result has an enormous amount of history for you to explore and dwell on.

Most guidebooks are shortsighted, so you should instead check out www.visitportugal.com

Based on your having 14 days (including arrival and departure) you have enough time to enjoy Lisbon and the coastal area of Cascais and inland to Sintra. You might even have time to visit Setúbal, often referred to as the "Dream Coast".

From there you can travel north to Porto, which invites you with open arms (iberiantraveler.com/72_hours_in_porto.pdf) and (travel.nytimes.com/2011/11/27/travel/36-hours-in-porto-portugal.html?pagewanted=all)

We stayed 7 days in Lisbon and had a lot to do and to see.
I would make a list of all places what I want to visit, then , make a schedule by days and see what I get.
Then you can decide.

We stayed in Lisbon 8 days and we wished we had 8 more, it was fabulous. I felt like we didn't even scratch the surface. Wonderful city and by far one of my favorites! I found that most of the guide books were really off, you need far more than a few days to enjoy this magnificent city. If I had 2 weeks I'd easily give myself 7 nights there, then use the rest to explore the coast. The food was outstanding. Have a wonderful trip!

I had a visit to Lisbon last year and honestly saying the place is so lovely, beautiful and heart stolen. I spent 5 days there, but I was not satisfied and wanted to spent few more days there.

The Gulbenkian is one of the greatest small art museums in the world.

You will want to also visit the stunning Jeronimos Monastery, the Coaches Museum, Castello Sao Jorge, Elevator Santa Justa, Alfama district, and Sao Roque church.

Do go to "Garden of Eden" Sintra and visit the Pena Palace. There is a room inside that is covered with Meissen porcelain.

I don't care for Estoril.

Cascais--pronounced Cash Kij--is cute, but the beach there is the size of a postage stamp. Some nice restaurants and cute boutiques do make for a pleasant afternoon.

My ex-husband lives in Lisboa.

Have fun. Bom Dia!
