How Many Days in Toledo?

Hello - I am taking my first trip to Spain at the end of May (yay!!!!)- I decided on Barcelona, Madrid, and Toledo (I'm saving Seville, Granada and Cordoba for another trip this fall).

My question is, is 3 nights and 2 full days TOO much time in Toledo? I notice that all the guidebooks say you should spend one day there, but only mention it as a day trip.

Is this because it's a really small place and everything can be seen in one day? The pictures of Toledo look so beautiful (and because I'm a huge El Greco fan!) that I booked 3 nights there....but now I'm wondering if 3 nights and full days might leave me just hanging around with nothing to do.

Thank you for your input!

Its pretty small. We thought one day was enough.

If you like it..you can spend there any time you want :)
But yes, it is a small town and if you like El Greco paintings, you can save one day and go to El Escorial in Madrid. At the Palace Museum they have also some good Greco's.

I agree. Two nights with one full day is plenty if time is short.

Thanks, everyone! I've changed my reservations and cut it down to 2 nights and 1 full day. I really appreciate the responses - this message board is great! :)

You might even want to add that extra day on to Segovia, which is well worth a visit.

artlover - Yes, that's exactly what I've decided to do - thanks so much for the suggestion! I've added a day trip to Segovia from Madrid.

I can hardly wait :)
