How many days in the Dordogne?

We're planning a trip to France next spring. We've been juggling destinations and are now down to 4 full days/5 nights based in Sarlat with a rental car. Is that enough to at least see the highlights of this area?

That's probably the bare minimum for getting a good taste of the area. We spent one week in Beynac last year and are going back next year for another week to see what we didn't see last time. And we still will not have seen it all. It's a beautiful area and has a lot to offer.

We've spent 2 weeks and definitely have lots left to see. Four days would give you a taste.

We've spent 10 weeks there. 5 nights & 4 days is the minimum to get an appreciation for the region.

We spent a week based in Sarlat last October. Yes you will have time to see the highlights, where ever you go there is always more to see and never enough time. But make the most of it and enjoy the experience. I wrote a trip report which has our day trips listed just click on my name.

We thought Sarlat was a good base and it has an excellent market on Saturdays and a bit smaller one on Wednesdays.Lots of good eating options and easy access to Beynac, Domme, the Dordogne river, the list is endless. Enjoy yor trip!
