How many days in Munich are enough?
 

I will be traveling to Berlin at the end of July for a conference and want to visit Munich before going to Berlin.

I have a friend I plan on visiting in Tübingen after arriving in Munich and then plan on taking the train back to Munich until I go to Berlin.

So my question is, how many days are enough to enjoy Munich. I am currently thinking 3 or 4 days, but cash/conversion rates may limit me to three.

Any recommendations one way or another? Will I get bored after 4 days?

One should never get bored in Munich - unless it is just "sights", museums and galleries that keep you fired up.

There is always a beerhall around the next corner and a schweinehaxen on the next plate!

Seriously, 3-4 days will be good and you should not be bored

I've spend a lifetime (40+ years) here, but actually I'm starting to get bored. It has changed quite a bit.

Munchen is one of our favorite cities in Europe. Never gets boring. 3 - 4 days would be OK; would really try for 4 if possible.

If you are happy staying in a 3* use Priceline. We got the Courtyard Marriott City Center for 5/9/08 $83USD including taxes.

Well, if you get bored you could do daytrips from Munich to Neuschwanstein and Dachau. (That last ought to make you welcome boredom.)

If you are asking how long will it take to see the sights, you can probably do it in 2-3 days. Part of the charm of Munich is just enjoying the people watching at the Englisher Garten, the Vikualien Market on one of the dozens of beer halls.

Any guidebook can tell you what the tourist sights are and you can choose what interests you.

@ira - what can you share about the Hotel Uhland? I am traveling with two teenagers (well... 17 and 20) and a husband in September. We would MUCH rather stay in a B&B style place than a Hilton - and are looking for someplace that can offer advice and guidance. This looks like it might be a fit? THANKS!

Last time I was in the gardens on a nice summer day there were naked folks all over the place, even right next to the walkways - I hear this has declined though so not sure even though the pix above does show one young lass in the buff - used to be common in many German parks but again I hear it is dying out.
