Planning to add Fiji, Australia, and New Zealand in 2008 so that would make 26 total.

Wow! It is amazing that this thread that I posted in the 2nd or 3rd week of starting to use Fodors is still going with so many recent responses (I only occasionally read the threads lately).

Anyway, quoting Young Mr Grace from Are You Being Served, You have all done very well. :)

I popped into the Europe area to glean a little information about Romania, where I am going on Thursday, and saw this interesting thread.

Romania will be my 88th country, with country as defined by the Travelers Century Club. I will hit 100 in September, 2009.

An interesting website that will let you list all the countries you've been to all the states and then draw you a map and tell you the percentage of the world's countries you have visited ...

I started traveling abroad in 1995. The countries are Ireland, England, Scotland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Greece, Italy, Spain, Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, Belize, Guatamala, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Australia and New Zealand. So 23 besides the U.S.

This question starting me to thinking and adding up, I haven't thought of how many countries I have visited.

All in all I have been to 21 countries, spending time in them. I have touched down in airports all over but the 21 are the countries I got to know on a first name basis, most of them since 1980 ish.

And I am grateful!

Boy, this is taxing my brain, because 30 years ago while in college I spent a semester in Europe with a railpass and hopped all over. Here's that list:
Denmark
Sweden
Norway
England
Spain
France
Germany (Including both East & West Berlin & CheckPoint Charlie, back in the day when the wall was up)
Czech (Prague, totally different in 1973!)
Netherlands

Now in the last decade or so:
Germany
Austria
Switzerland
Italy
Japan
Brazil
Mexico
France (and back again in May this year!)

I guess I'm up to 25-26 now based on my count in January. I added Brazil and Israel last April and November.

It doesn't feel like that many though. I need to find a few more countries to go to.

Carolina Jan 25th, 2008 05:37 PM

UK (where I'm from)
USA (where I live at the moment)
Canada
Greece (favourite country, spent more than 3 years there)
Spain (15 trips)
Italy (4)
Portugal (1)
Ireland (1)
Morocco (1)
Croatia (1)
Turkey (1)
Holland (2)
Belgium (1)
Germany (2)
Well, that's only 14, and unlikely to increase as I return to Greece and UK several times a year!

joyce1 Mar 13th, 2008 10:47 AM

Canada, Bermuda, England, Scotland, France, Switzerland, and Italy.

I'm 29, been traveling abroad since 2002, and have been to 22 countries. I will be adding at least 2 this year and, depending on what we end up doing in the fall, maybe 3.

I'm always impressed by how well traveled fodorites are...I never would have visited some of the places I have had it not been for recommendations on this board.

lindy27 Mar 31st, 2008 11:55 AM

I've been to the US(home and 24 states), Mexico, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico if it counts haha, Italy, France, England, Vatical City, and Scotland. I first left the country in 1999 at the age of 14.

I'm currently planning a long trip to Europe where I hope to go to: Italy, Poland, Germany, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
