Hello Everyboby,
I will visit Venice in the coming August.
How long will you stay there?
I just wonder 2 nights will be enough or not.
Hope to hear your advice.
Thanks in Advance.

Acceptable to whom?
Hkchemsir,
Are you interested in entering museums and churches to see the art and historic sights of Venice, or do you only want to walk around the town and take pictures. Do you want to shop a lot?
To walk around and take pictures doesn't take much time. To stop to see things and shop takes more time.
If you don't know what you might like to see and shop for in Venice, look at a guidebook.

I agree that a lot depends on what you want to see and how fast you want to see it.
This notion that there is some sort of time requirement and that everybody has the same interests is, at the very least, insulting.

Two full days at least you should consider, I would say. In three to five days you get a bit more insight into life in Venice and might have some time to discover more remote places. Get up early to catch some of the magic without other visitors all around And walk the alleys in the night once.
Many people staying here for one day only leave town quite unimpressed. Venice needs some time to unfold its charm. Some more tips like how to get around and so on you can find at http://gintenreiter-photography.com/...ce-travel-tips
Hope it helps, I wish you a wonderful stay here in Venice!

We have only been once for a day trip.
The city is clearly unique in the world and has so many layers or facets which change daily. I believe that it is impossible to predict how long you should stay. Simple logistics may leave you stunned but hating the place, you may be happy with a day trip. Others may leave after a day wanting to spend the rest of their life there. The question varies with individuals and over time.
One thing is certain, I cannot believe that anyone could leave after their first visit and be anything but stunned.

It will be hot in August. That may affect your visit and how you feel about it. Venice definitly has an effect on people. Some people really do not like it. Others lose their hearts to it. You won't know until you go, and it might take two or three days to adjust to the rythm of a city with no cars or street traffic.

Believe it or not, I wasn't stunned by Venice. I found it quite worthwhile to visit, and have done so more than once even though I actually don't like Venice as much as I like other European destinations. It's filled with art and history that interests me, but I guess I think the Dolomiti are stunning, not Venice. For man-made urban beauty, I prefer Paris. For a canal city, I have more fun in Amsterdam.

For me other than the obvious, it was seeing the over exposed in the flesh. Bit like NYC for the first time.
The visual perspectives in Venice are unmatched, like the row of Gondolas moored stern to and all pointing to San Giorgio Maggiore.
Only been stunned 4 times.
Venice, NYC, swimming with a dolphin in The Bahamas and receiving my first restaurant bill in The States which in addition to the menu price had tips, service charge, local tax, national tax, contribution to the Xmas party, contribution to cousin Ron's college fund and an extra bottle of wine added on to the bottom!
Stunning isn't a superlative I use casually.

There isn't anywhere in Italy that I haven't enjoyed visiting once or in some cases many times, but Venice is not at the top of my list. As with many places in the world, you won't know what you think/feel about Venice (and how much time is 'enough' for you) until you've been there. But IMO, a single day in (any) one of the great cities of the world isn't sufficient time to even form an opinion.

Then again, some people find a day trip to Florence to be 'enough' time, so I guess there are all sorts of travelers.
I forgot to mention that in August I would spend less time in cities and more time in the countryside, preferably near water or in the mountains.

We usually stay 4 or 5 full days but I have a friend who rents an apartment for a month each spring and wishes it was longer! It pretty much depends on what else is on your itinerary and how long you have for travel. I would plan on 3 full days at a minimum.

Six visits to Venice and every time I step out of Santa Lucia Station and face the Grand Canal, My heart either stops or is racing so hard, I can't move. If I had been limited to only one beautiful sight in my lifetime, in hind sight, I would choose Venice. However, I've not been there in the heat of summer. Might make a difference. I don't know.
