How long to spend at Hampton Court?
OK. We're visiting London in early July. We've rented a flat in Notting Hill and figure we'll do the Portobello Market on the Saturday we're there. But do you think it'll be possible to visit Hampton Court that day, too? Or is Sunday a good day for that?
|
Hampton Court is I think 30 mins out of Waterloo station. You can spend anywhere from 1/2 a day to a full day. There is a lot to see. The gardens are lovely as well, with a maze to do.
You could do it after the market depending how long you stay at the market. Sunday would also be a fine day to see it. |
The Hampton Court Flower show is on from the 5-10th July, so might want to allow more time due to the crowds if your visit coincides with these dates.

I recommend you take the guided our of Hampton Court. It helps to bring the history & buildings to life.

J62,
At what time are the guided tours? I have been looking on the H court website and I can't find them. Also, does anybody know where to get the 111 bus at Heathrow? Thanks SB |
There are multiple guided tours by costumed guides and then there are the audio tours. All are included in the price of admission. Really worthwhile.
|
Thanks,
SB |
Spend the day at Hampton Court but beware of trains not running at weekends. Ask at Heathrow bus station when you are there as buses usually go round the airport stopping in various places.
|
Janette, thank you for the tip about the trains! I would never have thought to consider weekend schedules, especially Sunday.
