How Long Have You Been Visiting Fodors

Pam asked a question on the US page and now I am wondering about the Europe page followers. How long have you been coming to Fodors Travel Talk?
Seems like alot of people over there started coming here in 1997.

Sheila Jun 21st, 2002 10:25 AM

3 and a bit years

a--z Jun 21st, 2002 10:26 AM

~
Four & something years ...

Daniel Jun 21st, 2002 10:28 AM

Less than three weeks, but I´m afraid I outstayed my welcome. Already. Most Fodorites are very sensitive...

Rex Jun 21st, 2002 11:14 AM

My first post was in September 1999, and then my second didn't come until November. I actually don't remember what might have been the reason for that. I don't really remember making the September post, but it is still there.

And I have been here - - astonishly close to every day (except when traveling - - and even then, every so often).

Closing in on my 5000th post - - probably later this summer.

Best wishes,

Rex

I think I started checking this forum for information about Rome, a few months prior to our trip in March, 2001.

Lana Jun 21st, 2002 11:23 AM

I came here a over a year ago and the first post I read was which fodorite is your favorite? I thought what a bunch of nuts congratulating each other and I left, but I came back the next day to get myself upset again, and have been here since then, but have also learned alot.

Tom Jun 21st, 2002 11:26 AM

I recently looked for that "which is your favorite" post and couldn't find it.

Anyone know it's correct name?
Carol Jun 21st, 2002 11:41 AM

I started coming here in Oct. or Nov. 2000.

Mel Jun 21st, 2002 12:03 PM

I think it was early April 2001.

Tony Hughes Jun 21st, 2002 12:10 PM

Approaching four years I think.

betsy Jun 21st, 2002 01:01 PM

July 1999

Sue Jun 21st, 2002 01:42 PM

Since Jan., 02.

BOB THE NAVIGATOR Jun 21st, 2002 01:45 PM

I believe 1996, and it has been almost daily since.

Sherry Jun 21st, 2002 03:23 PM

I think it was in May or so of 2000. And I really can't remember how I discovered the site.
Diane Jun 21st, 2002 03:50 PM

I know it was helpful in planning my May 1998 trip. Before that I used CompuServe Travel forums....which probably started when I planned a May 1995 trip to Jamaica.

pam Jun 21st, 2002 03:56 PM

Two years. You all helped me plan my wonderful Italian solo journey and now you continue to help me plan our family trip to France.
I usually love it here and have met alot of really terrific people.
Thanks to all

paula Jun 21st, 2002 04:43 PM

About the same time as Sue, (Jan 02) who I think may be the same Sue who arranged to have a group of us meet in Paris--which was really fun. I check this site a lot now because people have been so helpful to me, I'd like to recipicate.

Sue Jun 21st, 2002 05:09 PM

Only for about a month. I am getting some very useful information in planning some future trips, and think the site is great. I have also been able to give some information, which I hope has been useful. However, I must say that some of the posters get a little too carried away with personal opinions about subjects unrelated to travel. And some can be rather rude to posters asking innocent questions. But they probably have nothing better to do, and it does get a little comical! I will keep coming back, as I think most people seriously want to give and receive useful information.

Robin Jun 21st, 2002 05:13 PM

In early 2000, when I was planning a trip to France.

Ron Jun 21st, 2002 05:26 PM

Since spring 2000 or so. Like many others I've gotten a lot of hints and tips from many of the fodors posters. Occasionally I can offer some help and I try to do so.
Ron

Dayle Jun 21st, 2002 05:44 PM

More than 5 years ago. Can't remember exactly, but long before I was looking for info on my France 1999 trip.

danie Jun 21st, 2002 05:55 PM

August 2001 when planning our first trip to Italy (and daily since, boy I just can't get enought). Received many valuables tips from the European post as well as the USA. Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions.

Barb Jun 21st, 2002 05:58 PM

I've been visiting the forum since October, 2001, planning my Italy trip for March 2002, and then my France trip.(Just returned yesterday--details to follow). I have come to appreciate the incredible knowledge held by the people on this forum, and have enjoyed applying my new-found hints to make my travel more fulfilling. Thanks, Fodorites!

dan woodlief Jun 21st, 2002 07:05 PM

Late Fall/Summer 1997 (as I said on the U.S. forum). I still check out Fodors a couple of times or so per day except when traveling. I don't post quite as often as previously (maybe 10 times per week) because I have been traveling a lot lately, trying to update my Web site, and engaged in various other activities. I mostly use the U.S., Europe, and Latin America fora but occasionally appear on Canada and Asia.

Judy Jun 21st, 2002 07:27 PM

I think since sometime early spring in 2000.

Marilyn Jun 21st, 2002 09:17 PM

I just discovered this forum a few weeks ago via google and was delighted to get a bunch of quick answers to my first post. Now I gotta admit I'm hooked. I love to travel and have done a LOT of it, and I like being able to help people. Plus, some of these posts are a lot more entertaining than summer tv. I've been on here just about every night and find it a pretty fascinating community of people. I was astounded by the diverse replies to the "Where were you born and where are you now?" post. So, I'll be seeing you all...

Mina Jun 21st, 2002 09:26 PM

I plan to sue Fodors for making me go blind. I spend a lot of time staring at the computer reading all the nifty stories and dreaming of places not yet visited.

I've been around since late '99, although I've only been posting with this name for about a year. Read and post on U.S., Europe, and Australia. As mentioned previously, thanks to all for great travel suggestions years past.

Craig Jun 22nd, 2002 05:02 AM

First post in 3-1998
I started lurking about a year before if I recall correctly. I've been away for over a year, though.
It is a great tool and a subset of what the arpa and www were meant to be -- people comming together and sharing info. Group thinking. A vat of knowledge.
The future of the human mind?
-Craig

I'm a relative newbie. Since January or February, 2002. Found it while looking for hotels in Amsterdam & Scandinavia for this summer (almost there!).

wes fowler Jun 22nd, 2002 06:55 AM

Almost daily since early in 1997.

Emily Jun 22nd, 2002 08:19 AM

Since late '98 or early '99, not quite sure.

Carmenr Jun 22nd, 2002 09:05 AM

I discovered this board early this spring, just in time to help with my April vacation in Paris. Many useful tips made for a great trip to Paris after a 33-year hiatus. Thanks everyone for your kind suggestions.

Carmen

Judy Jun 22nd, 2002 09:10 AM

Daily when I'm home since spring 2000. Heard about it on an aol site, and have found more useful info here than there. Judy

adrienne Jun 22nd, 2002 01:23 PM

Since March, 1998

claire Jun 22nd, 2002 01:38 PM

Since about spring of 2001, in preparation for a late summer 2001 trip. This group of people was enormously helpful to me, beginning with Rex & Richard, but including many others. Thanks again! I decided to keep checking in until the one year anniversary of our trip, both to help others as I was helped, and because its fun to read of others' experiences. Then, I'll drop out till our next trip as my info will have become pretty out of date by then.

kavey Jun 22nd, 2002 01:49 PM

1998/1999

Ruth Jun 22nd, 2002 02:10 PM

Since March 2001 - how time flies when you are reading Fodors.

Maira Jun 22nd, 2002 06:42 PM

Since early 1997 (I was planning a trip to Germany). BOB THE NAV, Sally Fowler, Wes Fowler, and Al (from Al & Ruth) were already here and from the get-go I thought they were the "cat's meow" when it came to travel. I still do.

anne Jun 22nd, 2002 08:27 PM

Daily for almost 2 years. I love hearing how long my favorite people have been on for !!!!!!!
