Since last year, 2003, I believe, planning our trip to Munich. We got great advice and lots of info we didn't even know we would need until we were there. Since then, I'm an addict!!!

I am so delighted to see that SO MANY from 1996 still here!!! I first lurked in looking desesperately for recs for a hotel in Paris. I was clueless and a kind lady posted on Hotel St. Christophe and a businessman posted on Hotel Muguet. I stayed in 1996 in St. Christophe and in 1997 at the Muguet. LOVED them both!! Trips to Europe have increased (approx 3 trips/yr) and I can't wait to retire in Spain!!! YEHHHHHhh!!!

Since 2000 or 2001.

Since before the Vikings thread, which I still long to see again (removed) and since "Tipping the Pilot," which may have been on the US board. Hope it's still there. Oh, and the monkey thread!!

Also removed which I am really really really sorry to see is the 9/11 thread on the US board, which documented this (mostly) amazing international community's communication with each other starting when the news began to break.

As I was in downtown NY at the time (still am) it was an especially meaningful experience of interconnectedness for me. As the board continues to be.

I didn't like it when we had to register, because I love the outbursts of humor which included crazy names, though I do like being able to find my posts. The boards have gotten lively again however, after a period I thought of sluggishness. Grateful to be here.

I have been lurking since sometime in '99...I loved reading from/about the personalities in those days, and finally posted sometime that year or in 2000, I don't remember exactly.

I don't read as much as I used to, but am happy to see many of the same "faces" around because I have a list of people I remember who gave out great advice, and with the name search feature, it's so easy to look it up.

I reckon in another 5 years, many of us will still be here...and I can only imagine the interesting personalities who have yet to arrive!

Tony, have you got that shark bite photo posted on the net anywhere? That's definitely one to share!

One thing I forgot to mention is how lucky I feel to be living in London since so many Europe board fodorites pass through my city and I have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful people. Was fun too to meet a whole bunch of posters in San Francisco on my trip there a few years ago.

I discovered fodors talk forum in 2002 before our trip to Machu Picchu, but didn't get addicted until February, 2004 when planning our trip this September to Barcelona and Provence. My trip planning will never be the same!

Since early 2002. The year when jokes were still allowed

Still grateful for the real help I've got.

Since 1996. This site got me totally hooked, to visiting the site everyday and also to travelling to Europe! Those days (before kids), we did about 2-3 trips to Europe every year for about 3 years. Then things slowed down when we had our daughter (now 4) - but even at this age her passport is quite impressive - 2 trips to Italy, 2 to Japan and trips to Germany, UK, India (twice) and Singapore. Our son is 3 months old and the much awaited trip to Norhtern Italy is all planned for next July

late '98. i still have my "pin" - gathering dust with old cuff links on my dresser. wish I was taking more trips so I can ask the questions...instead of suggesting a few (it is fun, however, to think of oneself as an amateur Rick Steves every so often).

STELLAROSA & EMILY!!!! Hey, Guys!!! I can't believe that I missed the note you posted on May 18th! urghhh!!! Just read it and so glad to hear from you guys!! John is doing much better, it was very scary for a while, but Thank God, things have improved and we have been back to Europe together as we used to. Remember you guys have a place to stay in Upstate NY; we really enjoyed having you guys over back in 2000. Take care!!

Probably sometime in 1999. I don't remember getting any info for my summer 1999 trip from the forum, but I got some great info from here for my spring 2000 trip

Feb/March 2003. I came to the board because someone who had stayed at my sister's condos in Hawaii came on the board and said some pretty incredible lies about the place. When someone asked my sister about his comments, I came here to check it out and frankly, to present our side of it. He, by the way, never came back to post and do a rebuttal to my telling of our side of it. Even though it was extremely frustrating to have someone attempt to ruin our reputation on this board, in a way, I'm glad he did, because I discovered this board and have gotten very good info about Italy and it has also been very helpful with my upcoming trip to London.

I started reading the posts in May 2004. Then I ran into Fodorite Patrick in Rome at a restaurant he had recommended, and now I'm totally addicted, but I limit reading and postings to Europe, where I've travelled the most. It's a small world after all......
