Spring or summer 1998.
Our little travel group was beginning to plan our first trip together (although most of us had been to Europe before).
I found fodors.com, clicked on Forums, and the rest is history. Hooked for good.
I believe my first question was a request for advice was concerning where we should go. Wes Fowler was among those who answered.
Other names I remmember from the early days were Arizona, who turned out to be Al...now, what was Al's last name? Sally Fowler, Elvira, of course...who else? I think perhaps Bob the Nav was here.
Fun to thhink back.

Since 2000 the best I can tell, although I never got a pin so I have not ever considered myself a "fodorite" (whatever that means).
I did collect 500 business cards from epinions.com, and a t-shirt and bag from independenttraveler.com though. Does that count?

Since 1996. Been hosting the DC/MD/VA area fodorite luncheons since August 1999 after the very first one in Paris in May 1996 (anyone interested in joining up with the group, let me know). I used to be on this web site every day, hooked! It's been fun here.

In 2002, I found Fodor's forum while researching a trip to Italy. Quickly became addicted. Started posting in May '03. Am going to France (Paris, the Dordogne, Languedoc) in September and got most of the info I needed on this site.

In Feb 1996 my husband mentioned the possibility of a business trip to France and Fodor's came to the rescue with great alternatives such as Hotel St. Cristophe and, later with Hotel Muguet. BOB THE NAV, Sally Fowler, Wes, Neal Sanders, Al from Arizona were here already and I thought they were tops! I still do!! On my way to the French Riviera in May, Portugal/Spain in Nov., this forum has helped me saved hundreds of dollars, let alone headaches, throughout the years.

I started here in 2000 when we were doing research for a trip to Italy in July, 2001. Everyone was such a help for that trip and others after that. I have been here every day since then - sometimes just reading, sometimes posting a question, and sometimes posting a message. My day just doesn't seem right unless I have checked Travel Talk.

First post on Jan 22, 2002... asked whether I should rent an SUV or sedan to drive around AZ. Was advised to rent a sedan - rented an SUV all the same and didn't regret it for a minute ;-)
Been totally addicted to these boards ever since though!
