How long from Brussels Airport to Midi station?

I'm going to be flying into Brussels, but then I will need to catch a train out of the Midi station to Paris. I was wondering if anyone recalled how long it took to get through the airport, get bags, etc. so I will know how much time to allow to get to the next station.

Whatever time someone tells you or you read about..if you're smart, you'll double it.

Assuming your plane lands on time, plan on 30 minutes to get your luggage (but it could be longer, although not often), another 10 minutes to get through customs, about 20 minutes to get your ticket and wait for the train from the airport to Midi and then about 40 minutes for the train ride (the official time is less, but they are doing track work and the train is "low priority"--it has to wait if a higher priority train needs to use the track). So basically give yourself about 2 hours. For example, if your plane is supposed to get in at 8:30 am, don't plan on a Thalys from Midi earlier than the 11:40. A cab *should* get you there faster than the train and should cost anywhere from 30-40 euros.
FYI, there are ATM machines on the arrival level of Brussels airport; there is also a money exchange booth (but the rates aren't very good). The ATMs are out of order from time to time (for example, there was a brief strike a few weeks ago by the guys who delivered the cash). Best bet to bring about $50-100 worth of euros with you.
If you are planning to take the metro to your Paris destination, note that you can buy individual metro tickets on the Thalys from the bar car. It's worth doing--saves you from waiting in line at the Paris Gare du Nord.
